Very interesting, apparently my system draws 265w, perhaps spending £50 on a 500w PSU was overkill

I wouldn't say so m8. Gives u plenty of elbow room and scope for upgrades without needing to worry about the additional expense of a new psu. I thought I was ok with a 750w psu and I'm slightly over that. Need a 1000w psu if I want to add that 2nd gfx card

PSU power is overrated. I've got a Gigabyte Odin, which allows me to monitor power provided in real time. With an 8800GTX (thirsty card) overclocked Q6600, Creative X-Fi, and two 10000RPM Raptors the most I've seen it peak at is 350W.
Hmm, the site is actually reasonably accurate, predicts a theoretical peak of 362 for me.
What the hell are you running Papa to be >750W with one gpx card?

have you got a really heavy voltage OC or something Papa? Not seeing how an extra cd-drive and a few case fans is making >400W difference. You have one less hdd than me too, and the 4870 is more efficient than my 8800 GTX.

In these days of Steam, Papa. WTF do you use the opticals for? Presumably burning movies. The DVD drive - whatever flavour it is - is the most redundant piece of kit ever. Bought Red Alert 3 on disc and it took me 5 mins to remember where to stick it in.

I have over 40 games that are still on CD and I plan on getting at least this years supply of non steam games on DVD too...

Ur right Zarfy I did. NOOOOOOB! 406w In these days of Steam, Papa. WTF do you use the opticals for? Presumably burning movies. The DVD drive - whatever flavour it is - is the most redundant piece of kit ever. Bought Red Alert 3 on disc and it took me 5 mins to remember where to stick it in.
Steam isn't the be all and end all Gas. They don't have every game available and I still own alot of CD/DVD games that I like to use. I also have the DVD writer to send DVD movies from my DVD camcorder to Lexi's Dad in the States. And you not knowing where to stick it, due to lack of use, speaks more about you than it does about me
