Thanks a bunch for all the info, some things I forgot:
I want it to be 1080p resolution (1920x1200) for Blueray-viewing, but no more since my vid card would either die or kill me, depends on what it manages to do first. I also need either a HDCP-compilant DVI or HDMI connection. For the price I aim at no more than £400, the less the better of course.
I'll look through some and update the post Wink

Won't go for the BenQ V2400W, not really that great.

I really like the Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP, opinions? Wink
Edit: What the fu** it's 495 here in Germany, compared to the 387 you get it for. Sucks.

y'know Dell actually make really good screens, especialy at the larger sizes.

Like Zarf said, dont worry too much about response times its largely just a willy waving competition between manufacturers with no real percievable disadvantage untill you get to about 12ms or so. Even then they use a grey to grey time which isnt representative of the real white to black speed.

Pick a good manufaturer and really you cant go too far wrong unless ure using the panel for professional level image or video editing where colour accuracy is vital.

I do a lot of image and video editing on a semi-professional level, but I don't mind that my screen is not perfect in terms of colour, nothing the videos will be shown on is (I guess), and my printer is perfect, so I'm fine with a non-professional panel I think.
I like the Dell especially because I can plug the PC, 360 and Wii in at the same time and switch with a single button, the image isn't distorted and it got a decent interpolation. I'll probably sleep over it and then decide.

The 2408 is nice, one of my friends has one. Nice build quality and it's got loads of inputs, so you can use it with a games console at the same time.
Far too expensive for my tastes though.

I do seem to recall chatter on the forums that it is susceptible to input lag however (Input lag is the time between you doing something, and the screen reflecting that change), so it may not be the best for gaming. My friend says he hasn't noticed it however.

I had a look at the 2709W in a store and ordered it, it is perfect. It sure is some money, but I think it's worth it, has everything I expect from a good screen I intend to keep for the next years, and some added luxury Wink Gonna report once it arrives.

The dell arrived today, it is great. I have not (yet) found anything that annoys or even slightly disturbs me.
The buttons for the osd are touch-sensitive and usually invisible. Once you get near them (like 2 cm), the menu button lights up, and if you touch it the menu shows (wow) and all buttons light up. I found myself trying to sneak up at the button without it noticing me. I always lose Sad
My old 17'' screen now does two things. First it looks ridiculously small. Second it serves me well for some extra space for IMing and that kind of stuff. Great setup Cheesy
