get goty from amazon, and then you need to mod it up the bum. The standard difficulty is for wusses, its balanced for rushing the main story, if you intend to do any sidequests whatsoever you need the community patches.

I modded it after playing it a bit, if that helps. But nothing I did made it too much better... there's a tonne of (obvious) bugs though.
Perhaps I was thinking of Oblivion... that definitely benefits from mods.
But meh, I still didn't change any of the basic functionality of that. Just tweaked things that I found annoying originally.
