Howdy!

Heard a lot of rave reviews saying how powerful & good the 4800 series of cards are. Well I bought one, specfically this one:

Whipped out the old card, popped in the new one and everything seemed to go ok, loaded up windows vista under a low resolution, installed the latest drivers from the ati website and now my screen goes blank when vista loads up the graphics drivers (i.e. fine before that).

However...it works fine using a VGA cable instead of DVI - any thoughts suggestions as how to claim back my DVI port? I have tried using the VGA to change the settings on the DVI, and the DVI monitor is shown to be connected in the catalyst control panel and I have tried adjusting resolutions/refresh rates etc but to no avail Sad

Update: Just found out that another set of drivers have been released...now...
I don't get anything through the DVI cable at all, even at POST
but the VGA cable still works fine.

i know this sounds silly... but have you tried the other dvi slot?
and are you putting it in the right pcie slot? as it can be a problem... these cards are very power hungry and if you put it in the wrong slot it will misfucntion at pcie x8 ect...

I've done this by mistake! The 8x slot will show a black screen sometimes (driver related issue though)

the biggest thing to look out for on those slots is if its a nb chipset for sli or CFX... the second sli slot will NOT see the ati card once drivers are installed as it cannot understand the cards specific bios... thats the simple way of putting it... its like talking to someone in japanese if they dont speak it... you get nothing haha

I put it in the same slot that the old card came out of. I belive on my mobo (Asus P5W DH Deluxe) it's the orange one and the second slot is a black one.

its in the right place....
id say try and contact saphire... or check the internet forums... theres usually loads of stuff on there...
on a side note, there are 4 diagnostic LEDs on the back of the card... are any of them lighting up?
