I just dusted off my Battlenet account and signed up for the beta. It looks pretty cool.
It's honestly the kind of game I would assume to do well just as it gets launched and then just bomb.
But this is Blizzard we're talking about and they (barring discussions of minute balance issues) put out quality products.
I'm tentatively looking forward to this.

Looks interesting, they took some inspiration from TF2 but that's definitely not a bad thing, got some MOBA stuff thrown in too. My concern would be balance issues; some classes are going to be a lot more powerful than others. I expect they'll sort that out over time.
Also, talking about the MOBA influences again. Are the players shown individuals or classes?

I think they're going for individual heroes (like a MOBA), but still with class like tendencies.
If you look at the gameplay trailer (and the site) you can see different heroes with similar, but not the same, abilities.
Tanks that can dish out high damage but who is melee based. (Giant ape and robot thingy with shield)
precision based offense class that has abilities to see through walls and with high mobility (Sniper gal and cuntsman user)
Defense class with turret based abilities (the dwarfs that builds turrets and the robot that can become a turret)
quick offence class with teleportation abilities (thin girl in white and and the black thin guy)
Medic support class (one with buildings and with a medigun)
and then a few classes I can't quite place, such as the one with a lot of explosion who can fly, and the one with a lot of explosion who can float (one is apparently offense while the other is defense, according to the site)

Well, you know how well the offense/defense classification works in TF2, I wouldn't pay much attention to those labels

I think the classification will work like intended, at least until people learn how to use abuse the different abilities.
Medics will still be medic unless they're are a battle medic and therefore useless.
I like the concept of a character that can turn into a turret, it's kinda like a brass beast heavy, just intentional.

Theyve been throwing out videos of all the characters over the last few weeks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClOf1XXinvZsy4wKPAkro2A/videosLooks really really cool. Between this and Dirty Bomb coming out of beta soon (which Im enjoying more and more), this will be a good year for that Team Fortress-niche.

I've noticed Dirty Bomb but haven't been keeping an eye on it. Dirty Bomb is made by the Brink guys at Splash Damage. It really feels like a sequel to that game where they learned from their (many) mistakes. I always appreciated what Brink was trying to do, but that game ultimately was a big disappointment because they rushed it to release and then abandonned it completely. What theyre going for here is pretty smart, DB appeals to an audience that has been waiting for a game like this for a pretty long time. The f2p model is not super disgusting too, alltho the process of getting certain loadouts for your characters is all luckbased so it can get really grindy. It went open beta on Steam last week so you can just try it out. Me and Ringel have been playing it the last few days and it's a lot of fun! Hope they add rankings to their competitive mode soon.
