Anyone else has had the 'pleasure' of playing this? Currently about 60% through it (At least according to the maps that are present online) and it's becoming disappointingly easy since it's pretty much impossible to run out of Flask charges. (With the occasional "whyyyyy ;w;" still present of course, @!$!%^ smelter demon)

I finished it twice. I think its a very good sequel with way better gameplay and a less frustrating difficultycurve (no weird spikes like Capra Demon and Bell Gargoyles) but the lack of creativity in the world is a real bummer. The world is still technically connected without loading screens but its nowhere near as cool as in Dark Souls 1, its just basically lava world -> long tunnel -> poison world -> long tunnel -> forest world, and some of these transitions make no sense. But if you look past that, its a really fun game if youre into Souls games. The Steamworks integration is flawless, the connecting to other players works almost all the time and it actually has fundamental PC settings and doesnt feel like an awful port anymore (except for the 360 button prompts on tutorials).

The experience varies so much depending on what build youre going for, I finished it first as a Katana wielding dexterity character and it got so difficult in the ending. Then went through it as a miracle guy and got the Great Lightning spear from the sunbro covenant which led to me 3 shotting every boss. Magic is still overpowered.

stuff
Aye, magic always bored me in RPGs so I never really try it - glad to know am not missing out on much. I actually prefer the world over the DS1, seeing Heide's tower for the first time was breath taking. I don't know if the curve makes sense, I mean it is pretty open ended - first thing I did was heide's, THEN I did the fallen giants forest, and I actually found the first way easier than the second. Bosses are, like in DS1, hella uneven. Some are really good lookin' and tough, and others are POS (The cavernous demon thing, zzzzzzzzzz).

I enjoy the Souls games but again, it seems easy - I'm a tank thing with a zweihander in one hand and a roman sized shield in the other and its getting tedious. might just ditch the shield which is making it play like that...

The world is just so lazily put together in 2 its embarassing. The worst example being Iron Keep, you never see it from anywhere and then you take this magical elevator inside a windmill and voila, a huge Bowser castle with lava everywhere, huh?? Also the sea level is different in every area, its just lazy. You can clearly see they didnt have Myazaki on for this since hes working on that Project Beast PS4 game, he seemed to be the mastermind behind the architecture in 1.

I mean with that world design they should have just dropped the connected world gimmick and gone back to the Archstone system in Demons Souls.

I dont know I honestly think all the Souls games are very fun but atmosphere and level design plays a big part in that too and the sequel didnt emphasize on that at all. Good gameplay improvements though, the new Statsystem is better and (most) of the bossencounters were well designed (NOT smelter demon urgh). My favorite was Undead Charriot, that was such a cool and unique encounter!

Im still only like halfway through Demons Souls, some of the worlds in that game are ridiculous and the lack of bonfires is a bit offputting.

Ah, you're not fond of smelter demon? I despise him for being tough, but I was quite fond of him Cheesy standard flaming demon, but he actually fought like someone with common sense - barely stopped swinging - instead of swinging 2-3 times then freezing for 4 seconds. Especially if he got you down on the floor he went in for the kill, whilst other bosses just wait for you to get up which breaks the immersion.

Edit: I do see the point, albeit it never really bothered me - Dark Souls always had a very surreal feel for me, what with everything being dead and in decay, so I never bothered to care much for continuity Cheesy

Waiting till I have money to pick this up (le broke atm)

Only played Dark Souls 1 recently (with Karthus as my guide) and despite my numerous rage quits, I actually loved it. Didn't get to really experience any of the multiplayer aspects as a) everyone was playing DS2 b) Was very hit and miss whether someone would successfully connect; but tbh didn't matter that much to me (apart from a couple of boss fights that got tricky: looking at you here Capra...)

I was the same with 1 in terms of the multiplayer because GFWL is a piece of shit and never worked. You will have a different experience with 2, coop is almost necessary to fully enjoy the game as a lot of the bosscounters are designed for 2 or more players (like Duke Freija ). I dont care if those Dark Souls turbonerds think thats cheapening the game, I really enjoy the coop aspect of it, 2 was certainly designed around that where as in Dark Souls 1 and Demons Souls it was just a cool feature.

Spiderbitch was extremely annoying as a solo D: By the time I got rid of the little spiderlings she had enough time to swing at me like a dozen times. I'm trying to finish it alone and maybe try coop etc. later on, unless my # of tries in a boss fight goes into triple digits.
