As usual, comments and suggestions.

Remember it helps if you say/confirm whether or not a game is free and give an idea of what it's about. I'll also try and make it clearer in the list that goes up. I tend to assume that people read the thread.

Just to repeat what Deadly said before, it seems that we're getting more people voting than are turning up on the evening. Sometimes stuff happens for people of course or there are technical problems but is it simply that people don't turn up if their game doesn't win? Is there anything we need to change? Anyhow, as far as I'm concerned, I've got to play and enjoy some games that I normally would never have tried e.g. Mechwarrior Online

Winning Game is Starcraft 2

I'd really like that Starcraft II game night now, I have it ready on my laptop just need something to force me to play.

As I am transitioning between jobs this weekend I should be able to make this one as I have a full 3 day weekend!

(I will however have to spend a lot of it packing, as we're moving house the monday after, no more renting for me and Liz!!!).

What time do you guys normally start?

Holy smokes, just as I was about to give up on SC2 and put forward another strategy game instead!

I will be about on Sunday so happy to 'coordinate' this one. We can all join an in-game chat channel and decide what to do from there

The game is probably quite large but with the new patcher you can actually play it before everything has finished downloading (pretty cool huh?).

Depending on numbers that turn up and skill levels of those that actually play it we might do some team / free for all games, maybe an arcade style game or two (which requires very little knowledge of the game!).
 
You can download/play the starter edition for free but if you join a party with someone who has the full game then you can play all of the MP with them (albeit only 1 race).

tbh. I'd strongly recommend playing arcade games, in normals I think the skill difference will simply be way to big.

Which is why I'd propose handicaps (i.e. offracing / monobattle type thing or something like that) to anyone that's an 'experienced' player.

Anyway - to anyone taking part - create a battle.net account if you don't have one and download the starter edition. I'll be on mumble in plenty of time for the event so if anyone has any problems then let me know.

Is that the same as Webchat on the front page?

If you mean the IRC channel, no - in Starcraft 2 once you login there is a menu to join groups/chat channels. Type 'wdg' in the box and hit join.

Well good games....nice intro to SC2

May even consider upgrading from the starter pack. Liked the resource management. The starter pack is a nice idea. It gives you enough to go at for free to get a good taste of the game both single-player and multiplayer. Probably with the likes of dota 2 and LoL being f2p, Blizzard had to introduce something.

The guest past is quite a good way of introducing and linking new players in with more experienced players who already have the game.

Sorry for throwing you in at the complete deep end with that first game Berath! Whoops! You'd gotten the hang of it surprisingly well by the time we did the second vs. AI game!!

I particularly enjoyed playing the Arcade games - there's a huge variety in there and I'd never played any of the ones we played last night (but I have seen others playing them) - some of them were very silly. Who would have thought that Disco would be the best Zealot Chef!
