We have been having a resurgence in 'spam' accounts. The problem with these is that they are human-made accounts so it's not that easy to tell if they are an actual genuine forum registration or a spam account.
I always immediately remove any links that are in any spam accounts so they get nothing from it / there's no harm done but do you want me to delete all their posts etc. or shall I leave them there as a lot of you seem to be enjoying them?
Personally, I'd be inclined to delete them - but you'd all need to stop replying to them because I'll delete the rest of the posts etc.

Aslong as they dont link to any malicious stuff I think you can keep them since they actually spawn some discussion on this board lol. I think theyre cute. Anyone up for some Battlefield 3 missions?

Haha cute spam bots. That have caused more discussion than anything else. I they can't do harm why not keep them. As long as we remember to clean them out and feed them. It's like a forum pet

They have spawned some interesting discussions tbh. Assuming we don't get assuaged with wa ymore then I say keep them.
How sure are you they are human created accounts deaders? Heavy ghost in the shell overtones but serious question. Did they go through the captcha? What is the captcha these days anyway?
Makes me quite sad if they're made by actual humans paid to sit on a computer and spam.

One of the requirements on registering at the moment is the ability to name one of the Team Fortress 2 classes, which would take either a very advanced bot (or a very prescient programmer) to get through. Additionally, their habit of posting on topic (albeit in a strange manner) in established topics points to human.
Not sure how they found us or how many we'll get, but as it stands they're the most harmless bots we've had.

These pages aren't indexed by search engines, so you'd expect a bot to scan for that in the html and the catapcha questions can only be broken by a seriously smart ai or a targeted bot (if you set out to specifically break this sites catapchas you can, but thats not worthwhile). Its just awful people who get paid to manually spam by stupid people who don't understand SEO and that forums are generally not ranked by major search engines.

I think they've started some stimulating discussions and have already taken an active part in the community.
I'd say keep them.
I'd also guess that they are people who are paid peanuts to manually spam. But who knows, they might genuinely like gaming or want a bit of a chat. Our brief conversations about silly pets and God of War 3 might be the only shining light in their everyday lives of drudgery and exploitation.

Getting viagra canada flashbacks Anyway, maybe set up some sort of nofollow, so if when they start link spamming they don't get their precious referrals? Not sure how they found us or how many we'll get, but as it stands they're the most harmless bots we've had.
This site is the first result for "uk tf2" in Google. Huh? The forum is indexed by search engines, for example the needs to be seen thread: https://www.google.com/search?q=http:%2F%2Fwww.wdgclan.co.uk%2Findex.php%3Ftopic%3D5337.0&oq=http:%2F%2Fwww.wdgclan.co.uk%2Findex.php%3Ftopic%3D5337.0robots.txt

Is it possible to limit signatures to a 'trusted' group of users? I.e. no sig on signup and then just every so often add those new users to the group who are real?
