I wouldn't mind playing mixes but like Omni i have no clue how to go around this(also my skill level is jokes but meh still fun right?) I used to mix in CS alot before they updated and ruined the game. If any one is ever short of a player and struggling to find anyone with a clue, I'll be here without one

Well that's clarified things anyway, I'd worked out that mixes were happening but was not sure if they were community or not and wasn't sure who was involved.

I have expressed an interest in trying 6v6 apart from in Burnalot's thread, but I was probably being a bit too subtle so as not to appear pushy and demanding and it was missed so apologies

I also would have been more proactive if I was less of a scrub. As Jebus said, there is a learning curve and anyone taking me on in a mix would need to be prepared for utter incompetence and why should I assume that they would be, however sweet I know they are, and force myself on them? I've joined various newbie/mentoring groups on Steam, none of which have come to anything. I've asked questions in the Steam forums. I've read the guides on ETF2L, I've watched Youtube videos, I've followed threads, I've practiced on tr_walkway, I've watched comp games but I've never put anything into practice. And learning on busy and cluttered pubs with the mad weapons and 3 spies trying to backstab you is hard.

But anyway...I've now said I'm up for it!

Im going to give the few thoughts i have on this topic aswell.

First of all, im not even a member yet (due to my inactivity at times regarding school, etc.)
Second of all, I dont know much about the history either, just a tiny bit about the public and competitive side from back when I was in [NuB] (cheez headshotting me for instance...)

Public server:
The one thing that attracted me to WDG was the amount of fun I had on the public server.
Looking back, I realise this fun came from the good communication and the "high" skill level on the server.
Even though there were many f2pers on the server, these two points were still adressed too because of the amount of regs and the few WDG members who were on the server.
If a server has 10/24 regs or people who know what they are doing, its enough to get a good and balanced game.

Over the past couple of months, the server has become less and less populated.
I used to be one of the ones trying to populate it shortly after getting into TF2 again, but I have to say its the same few people trying to populate it.
This became less of a mistory to me once I joined on the forums and I realised how little people played TF2 compared to the amount of people the I thought.

For the future of the public server:
Lets try fill it a bit more often with a bunch of regs. I think omni was the one who pointed out how many regs were playing public tf2 at the same time, but on different servers.
I for one would be more then willing to leave the server Im on to help fill the WDG server.
Another thing to point out is the use of the steamgroup invitation system.
I think its a lot more effective than people think, its a quick and easy way of notifying lots of people that there are people on the server. Even if there are just 5 players messing about.
Usually once there are about 4 players on the server, others are willing to help get fill it.

So lets use the steamgroup more, and I think kicking the users who havent even played tf2 in months is a good idea to get a better overview of the general interest concerning the WDG server.

Just a very short post on the competitive aspect, so just my personal experiences/opinions:
I would defiantly be up for internal mixes.
I actually played a few mixes with a bunch of regs, but that was solely because of the fact that they knew i was interested in competitive tf2, AND the fact that i had experience in competitive tf2.
Good ways to practise: Play some tf2lobby.com
On there you can join a server and choose your class. Once there are 12 people the game starts and you are automaticly connected to a server where you play with the competitive rules and cass limits.

Im starting to realise how bad I am at writing my opinion.
It just turns into a mess of thoughts that I write before giving enough thought to organising it beforehand -.-

Agreed.
TF2 lobby is more or less just one on ones and being able to win the duel against the person you encounter.
Just by playing scout in one of your mixes I learned way more then tens of lobby games.
But I guess TF2 lobby is usefull for practising those duels.
You can see how your aim is compared to other players and its an easy way of training your reaction etc.
Things that arent possible on public servers.

But tactics wise, its not usefull. You are right.

From a general game view, I can't play TF2 at all at current due to its long running battle with my current router, so I'm no help there at all.
