Patch is rather disappointing. Chatbox still an abomination, Infrared still the ez-way to get kills, TV missiles still useless, no VOIP, no HuDchanges apart from the squad menu. Instead lets tweak some guns noone cares about.

WAT? now jet cannons might have needed it but AA already shreds infantry as you may well know if you've ever played canals with me. 56-3.

lol, after that it mentions battlelog now autolaunches origin for you, but like battlelog autolaunched origin for me since release?

dunno why they are still allowing this shit, or not increasing the squad count slightly, as there is no squad comms now theres no good reason to have a private squad except to hold places for friends still joining the server.

Lots of other nice fixes if I can ever be separated from dragon slaying.

Theres certainly a lot they still need to tidy up but is voip really that essential? Have to alt-tab and go to battlelog all the time might as well use either the voip from the parties on that or just use mumble.

I'd say the VOIP is pretty important - you have to bear in mind that xboxes/PS3s have voice comms built in with friends etc. but with windows unless it's a game like TF2 that has it built in then I reckon a very very small percentage of people use voice comms with something like mumble or skype (don't have access to a server, don't know about it, don't have microphones etc. etc.) so if games want to succeed on PC as well as they do on consoles - they need to find some way of replicating the functionality.

I want VoiP for squads. Thats one of the reasons I loved 2142, if you hop into that game right now and find a good server you will always have squadmates that use the VoiP to point out enemies or objectives. In this game I feel like the squadsystem isnt needed since anyone is doing something different 90% of the time anyways.

Yeah - in public play all you have that's squad related is being able to set the squad objective (which the squad leader doesn't do 95% of the time in random public squads) and being able to spawn on squad members - which isn't that much.

it just always seemed a minor thing for me because generally either im playing with people on mumble, or just fucking around on a public stomping people. The fact that its squad based keeps the mic spamming down but I barely ever see people using mics in say ro2, which is a more serious game in dire need of people telling you what to do but even there with voip noone uses it.

Its a nice feature to be sure but i'd rather see them fix/balance everything first, deal with the chatbox and squads etc.

they completely broke the game with the patch btw though. Most people are getting failures to launch and black screens now lol. I never had connection problems before now i've managed to get in 1 server after trying for an hour and I got disconnected in about 5 minutes. Abandon all hope of playing tonight they need to hotfix it before its playable again.

the stinger nerf is dumb too. Helicopters were damn hard to fly well and not get shot down before so the lessened physics hits against them and no silly .50 cal snipers shooting them down is fine. But we are back to bc2 where nothing but dedicated AA can take down an aircraft. You'd basically need a squad full of stingers to take a good pilot down and good pilots were already fucking annoying. Not to mention a bunch of maps have aircraft and no AA.

AA needs to be better vs Jets than it is vs helis.
