Is anyone here intending on getting FIFA 12 on the PC? I've played a lot of FIFA 11 over the last year, but playing online was often frustrating due to cheats and quitters, so I ended up spending more time playing against the computer,. It'd be good to play an online game against someone from here rather than just random people the game picks.

If anyone is interested in the game, the demo came out today for PC (requires a registry key deleting if you already have FIFA 11 installed, typical EA) and Xbox and comes out tomorrow for PS3.

Well, if Alex McLeish can, I guess anyone can.

A joypad isn't essential (you can play using the keyboard, not that I'd ever want to with the number of controls) but is recommended since it has analogue sticks and triggers. I use my wireless Xbox Controller for Windows. I used to use a Logitech Rumblepad 2 but I bought the Xbox controller when I got fed up of games (such as FIFA and GTA) being set up specifically for the Xbox controller with too much faffing around required to use other controllers.

Luckily it turned out the the Xbox controller is better than just about every other PC game controller out there. Since then the only time I've touched my Logitech pad is to dust it.

Very much this. Having a 360 controller for the PC is a must have peripheral - great for some games (e.g. racing games, super meat boy)

Its definitely not necessary for FIFA though. I remember playing 06 and 07 like a boss with keyboard. Havent really followed the series since, but from what Ive seen the console versions are far superior now while the PC ones use old engines and mechanics.

No longer true. From this year the PC version is the same as the console versions. Last year was the first time they used the new game engine on the PC version, but it was missing some of the new features. Now the PC version has all of the same features, mechanics and engine.

Some people do play using the keyboard (reminds me of my ZX Spectrum days) but in doing so you're missing out on 360^o control/passing and a huge range of available skill moves hat require the second stick.
