exactly jebus, and previously he said in a tweet it would come out shortly after PAX (this weekend just gone). The minecraft wiki sources like crazy chaos if notch said something at any point its on their future updates page and sourced with links. My guess of next thursday is based of his comments in the video and his thursday release habit, but it could easily be the week following, or the next.

Sorry to mention this now Geezer, but since he's upgrading the bow we decided not to let you play on the server, ever. I think we can all agree it's for the best. We might reconsider if he assures us he won't add headshots.

anyone on the forums is welcome to join and the whitelist is off while we muck about waiting for 1.8 anyway. Once its on we will basically add anyone who asks, its just to keep the slow trickle of absolute randoms out who we have no line of communication to.

Ah sound, cheers mate.
Think the main problem I had with my own server was that underlying temptation to simply spawn things and teleport everywhere, took half the fun out of it really.
Though the scaled Nyan Cat I made was fucking epic
