Right here we go again guys...

So if you remember I have this awesome thing where my pc restarts itself and it has no BSOD (and I have turned that setting on to make sure).
So i'll run through some things I have ruled out:
-My temperatures on cpu,gpu and everything are fine <60 C as I don't overclock.
-I have wiped my entire HDD and installed a new version of windows since it started happening (which is over a year now for people counting) ruling out software problems.
-I have changed my gpx card (twice), again just recently to a GTX 460. Which has prompted me to post this as it seems to have made the situation worse but it may just be complete coincidence as it seems to come in random cycles.
-I have changed my PSU since it started happening, so I don't think it can be that although they could both be faulty but I don't think so.

So, to my knowledge, that leaves me with either:

-Faulty RAM (i'm getting a blank cd tomorrow so I can run that memory test)
-Faulty CPU (i'm screwed)
-Faulty Motherboard (i'm screwed)
-Faulty HDD (no idea if this could cause my problems)
-Faulty PSU (unlikely but possible I suppose)

To conclude, has anyone got any ideas for me to try or has anyone got some spare parts they would be willing to lend/sell me. So I can rule parts out and narrow it down to the motherboard which means I need a new pc

If you've upgraded you graphics card and it started happening more then it might be your PSU is fucked/not powerful enough, I'd find one that is definatly faultless (maybe even buy a new one, if you computer still crashes, send it back) and try with that as well.

I'd take a look on the capacitors on the MB. If they are even a tiny bit swollen on the top. Thats your issue.

Same goes for the PSU.

First of all how reproducible is it?  If every 10 mins then easy to fault find, if every week then hard.

Is there a relation to how long the PC has been on for?  i.e. on from cold (cold mean off for several hours) does it last longer than if you turn it straight back on again? This could suggest over heating.

memtest will do the memory (though not sure how much faith I have in it, always used it but never been useful).

PSU is more then capable of tripping your computer, rails are allowed to vary by 8-10%.  Once my 3.3v rail would flitter to 2.8v (more than 10% drop) and the thing would reboot on the spot.

Try reducing hardware to a miniumum.   ONE stick of ram (at a time), turn off all mobo peripherals (lan, sound, spread spectrum etc), one hard disk.

Try replacing HDD cable (though I don't have much faith in this test).

You're first question is not to find the problem, it's finding a stable setup, when you can make it stable (at any functionality level) you can enable things one by one to see what creates the problem... though this requires a problem that happens often (every few hours, not days)

I've seen this before, after replacing every component it turned out to be a faulty reset button on the case.

Don't rule out other minor components (sound card, wireless card, etc). My pc's been completely knocked out by a dodgy card before; it really just means your mobo is on the way out but I got another year or so from mine with a different card before the graphics card slot threw a hissy and I had to suck it up and get a new bunch of components.

Ok a few answers to the questions above:

E90, it seems to go in phases which I find really weird as in it won't do it at all for a few weeks and then for a couple of weeks it will be 5/6 times a day. And it doesn't seem to be related to on-time, sometimes it is as i'm logging in, sometimes while i've been browsing for hours and sometimes when I am gaming. This is why testing the individual hardware like you rightly say e90 is very difficult as it might work for weeks and then start doing it.

 I installed the new gfx card tonight and it did it loads and then switched back and it was fine so that makes me think power related, so I may just buy a new PSU and see where that gets me. What you guys think to that? Thanks all btw.

How strong is your PSU? It might not be faulty, just too weak.

Sounds reasonable I suppose Cheez - I guess it's possible it could still be motherboard related if it still happens - but I think power supply might be the most likely culprit if it works when going back to your old graphics card.

I have had problems with a computer randomly restarting which was fixed by replacing the PSU so it seems plausible.
