Not sure if anyone has any experience of this or can help me find a solution but our TF2 servers aren't updating at all. I've tried to update them 4/5 times since last night but each time I run the update command it just gets stuck at:

Checking bootstrapper version ...
Updating Installation

and it just sits there - it doesn't look like it's crashed - it just isn't doing anything.

I have tried deleting the installrecord.blob, clientregistry.blob, re-downloading the hldsupdatetool, running as administrator, using the -retry and -verify_all flags, logging off/on the server, restarting the server - but none of it seems to make any difference unfortunately.

I'm not sure what else to try - I started looking at it early yesterday evening and havn't been able to find any solutions anywhere.

Anyone got any ideas of things to try?

Windows or Linux?

Is there a verbose/debug option... might show problems with files/permissions

Does it update over the net?  Does a packet capture show continuous traffic or does it stop after a while?

It's a windows server.

I had a similar problem updating the Overdrive match server. It took around 20 mins of it "hanging" before it properly responded with the update.

Ask Chaos on what OS our server runs, though.

I left it overnight last night, and started it again this morning and neither time I came back to it had it worked Sad

And to top it off - the charity japan update updated quickly with no problems.

I can only assume it was a steam/valve issue with the servers being busy or something as it's never taken that long.
