At i42 - we got to play multiplayer brink for about 10-20 minutes - 8 players, 4 on 4.

Personally, I thought it was pretty good - the art style was pretty good, the gameplay was interesting - with lots of different objectives to complete in a single game (e.g. defend something, escort a mans) and you can choose which objectives you want to focus on. The character customisation was pretty epic, there were lots of guns to choose from and a few other nice little bits of the game that were quite nice and well thought out.

However:
- When we were playing, the graphics looked absolutely awful. Not just because it was on the 360, but it looked awful even for that. I'm not sure if it was because it was a pre-release version or what, but it definitely didn't look like the graphics were finished.
- A couple of people also said that most of the guns felt the same, you usually have to shoot someone a fair amount before they die, it's not like 1/2 hit kills
- Some people also didn't really have a clue what they were doing, but considering we got thrown into the game without any kind of introduction and trying to figure out what the controls were.

Personally: I'm not quite as excited about it as I was from the 'Hzza-hype machine' - but I won't be cancelling my preorder and if the graphics get sorted by the time it comes out then I definitely think it'd be worth playing - and we've only had a very small amount of playtime - but that's my impressions so far.

Graphics are bad, gameplay is slow and boring, pacing of characters is really so, SMART movement system isn't at all useful except in forced areas, levels aren't open enough, guns are all crappy (barely feel like you are shooting the mans) and the objectives that aren't the main ones are difficult to complete as you have to run through a massive slaughterfest to get to them anyway.

With the specs they're asking for I'd expect the graphics to be quite good, the fact they aren't is a bit stupid, but maybe it really has been a PC led release and that's why it looks bad on the xboxen? I think you're probably right about the multiple bullets thing, I think all splash damage games are like that, might be an acquired taste, I don't know, I've never got into a splash damage game.

I don't know, despite my bitter, disappointed heart, I was really hoping this would be good. That said, 10-20 minutes isn't really enough to judge a game like this that you'd end up dropping 50 or so hours into. But it's a shame, because with releases like this, the pre order price seems to be much cheaper than the price the game is at release, and you have to wait another ~6 months for it to drop that low again, by which time it can be too late for a multi game. I'm on the fence really.

Got bored about 3/4 in. There is absolutely nothing new gameplay wise in that video. It just looks like reskinned Quake Wars: Enemy Territory to me. Without vehicles. And I didn't like ETQW in first place.

Meh.

I was really interested in Brink, but was waiting to hear what people thought before I bought it. It's sounding more and more as if it will be a disappointment.

Since it's due to be released in a couple of weeks, if the graphics aren't polished now they never will be unless the PC version is dramatically different...but why showcase it on the XBox if it looks less good.

But I'll still wait and see. You never know.
