I have mixed feelings about the game so far. The campaign AI seems to be the best in the series from what I can see, I'm not sure about the battle AI yet as most of my fights have been auto-resolved. I really like the resource system, it actually gives you an incentive to capture specific provinces. One of my biggest problems with
Empire was that all the regions were basically the same, sure some had gold/timber/tobacco/etc., but no matter what resource you had the end result was just more money.
One thing that annoys me is the lack of distinctness between the different clans. The main reason that
Rome had so much replay value for me was because each faction felt unique and each campaign played with a new faction was very different from the last. In
Shogun 2 though, the only real difference between each clan is their starting position. I know that it's more historically accurate that way since they all have basically the same culture, but the 4 Greek factions in
Rome were much more distinct from each other than any 2 clans in
Shogun 2 are.
it's not the machine. no AA means jaggies everywhere. it's not lag that i'm annoyed by, there seems to be a delay in various actions not changed by messing with the graphics settings. menues don't appear instantly when they should and the campaign map doesn't respond in the same way previous versions did. the graphics look fine to a point but it's not stunning even on ultra
The game looks great to me and the campaign map responds just fine. The only delay I get in the menus is when I'm using the encyclopedia, is that what you mean?
