Wireless isn't working on my bog standard Sky router, anyone know of any good/cheap ones?

Not going to be gaming over it so it doesn't need to be amazing, just good enough for general browsing.

Gogogo.

I thought Sky Routers were locked down by MAC address to your sky account?  I was told I couldnt use a third party router so i went to plus.net instead.

Most routers will let you spoof another MAC address.

I'm moving house soon anyone know if the latest bt home hub is any good or still a steaming pile of shit. BT actually seems the only unlimited provider in the area (they've kicked the others out of the exchange again lols) but their pricing and unlimitedness/speed seem fine. Just want up front if I can tell them to keep the home hub (might be able to get a discount for refusing it). Theres already some bundled mcafee (how did mcafee even get that contract worse AV ever) AV garbage im going to tell them to keep.

EDIT:
I can't really find much negative about the homehub 3 but i'm not sure if thats because bt users all have beaten wife syndrome and are used to using port forwarding or custom server lists to mitigate or if it actually works ok. Someone was having bl2 issues on one in november but they were playing wirelessly so lol. Still would be nice to have a router I can fiddle with or vpn in conjunction with an always on pi or similar. Any recommendations for pro routers?

I quite like Billion's Kit, so the Billion 8200N, Or Go for a VDSL router that supports DD-WRT firmware. Cross reference http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database and http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/default_ShopGroup.asp?ShopGroupID=163

If you want to go really Pro, grab a Cisco 887.

Edit - just re-read, are you going to be on BT Infinity? If not there are cheaper options.

I probably should have mentioned im moving to the countryside ugh. So no fibre. On the plus side the asdl seems to be ~17mbps so I should get top speed out of what id be paying for.

Hmm, It might be unlimited, but it'll likely be congested to fuck all evening so you can't game or download anything anyway. I'd go with someone like Eclipse, unlimited off peak is usually good enough.

no eclipse either, bt seemed to have kicked some of the competition off the local exchange, presumably due to congestion. choices are sky, post office, john lewis, bt, tesco, plusnet, primus, talk talk, ee. Some of those are out for traffic shaping and other shadiness. I'm also hoping to find a rolling contract which is going to suck be do them but alas kicked out.

That cisco you mentioned looks sexy and does fibre and asdl, I might get it or something in the model line anyway. Def want something that can handle both so I can use it with fibre in a few years.

I've been thinking of getting a new router, the one I got with my current O2 l33t pirate package drops my connection (wireless and wired) at random times, not all LAN connections at the same time, just random ones sporadically.

It's a shame because my old Virgin Media one was awesome, but I can't use it because it's for cable and we don't get cable in the new house.

I've had very good experiences with AVM products (aside from the fact that my MacBook doesn't agree with their WiFi-N), though they feel like a German-centered company, so YMMV. I own two of these, one at my place, one at my parents'.

I've got a TP-Link at the moment.

I've had bad experiences with Internet drops with both Netgear and Belkin but, apart from the odd random and inexplicable problem with TF2 cropping up, this one has been fine.
