The more observant/caring among you might've noticed that I haven't been on much over the last few days. This is due to my computer moving into the next phase of its plan to break my will. Whereas last week it would corrupt all my drivers  whenever I tried to update my phone, forcing me to use a system image restore, this week it came back from a system restore with a black screen with only a movable mouse cursor. A bit of research found that explorer wasn't running, meaning no task manager or ctrl alt del screen and no hope. After a few days of panic I found a windows help article saying I could run a system image restore from the repair bit of the windows 7 setup screen, but all my friends are either not on 7, running 64 bit (which I can't restore from for some reason) or like me, got a download only copy. So, if anyone out there has a 32 bit disc floating around, I'll pay for 1st class postage both ways and also buy you a drink/some other reimbursement at some point. If dibble or mode have one I'll go to them first because they're local.

I should be able to download an ISO of the disk files and I've definitely got some blank DVDs at work to burn it to. I'll do it tomorrow evening and put it in the post on wednesday if you pm me your address?

Don't worry mods, although its a torrent, it's legal - the ISO's aren't cracked, just backups.

Sorry for the slight hijack, but I have questions.

I've been after Windows instalation media for a while, but I've had no luck in just getting the disks. The senario is this. In my case I have a laptop that came installed with vista. The licence lable is stuck to the laptop and there is a secion of the hard drive that has been partioned off that is there for recovery. I think it's supposed to be there should I want to reinstall vista. But this presents the problem that should I want to replace the hard drive, I've no way of installing vista on to it. One of the things I've wanted to do is replace the hard drive for a bigger drive. The one my lap top came with was roughly divided in half, which isn't good, as I'm running out of space.

Also recently my step Dad's lap top has thrown a wobberly. Blue screen when it loads to windows. Even in safe mode. Something about the drivers being less or equal to. So in that case I have to replace the hard drive and install a fresh to see if it cures the problem. It's still under warenty, but only fo the hardware. And what's I've read up on it could be either hardware or software. But spending £150 odd on a copy of Win7 Home premium 64 bit is a bit overkill. I don't need the licnce, just the instalation media.

So is it possable for me to download the data? Or could some one do it for me?

I'm after the following.

Windows Vista Home Premium OEM 32 bit DVD

Windows 7 Home Premium OEM 64 bit DVD

(I think it's OEM. But I assume retail versions would also work.)



I've tried finding this on the Microsoft web site, but had no joy. At the moment I'm trying to find the Win7 disk more than vista. If some one could point me in the right direction it would be apreciated.

Try the ones in that torrent I linked. Any decent torrent client (utorrent) will let you just select the file you want.

It's basically the same as the disk, except on a usb stick. Just go into the BIOS and tell it to boot from removable disk. I'll be on campus thursday and friday morning, so lemme know when's good for you.
