http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.htmlBasically it shuts down unwanted processes and services while you're playing. I was wondering if it was worth using? Are there any obvious security holes ect? Opinions? cuz at least on paper to me, it sounds interesting enough to try

I probably wouldn't bother it - all the games I play run fine on my pc.
Might help some people with lower spec PCs though. I will have a better look at it later and see what it does/how it works.

I used to use it on my laptop, good for an extra 1FPS, really not worth the hassle of turning it on tbh.

Sounds like a load of old nonsense to be honest.
"cleaning RAM, and intensifying processor performance"...what does that even mean?

Just assing around with it now, haven't played anything yet but it did let me know my drivers needed updating and has closed various things that are too stubborn to let me uninstall them. Might make much difference but would recommend for idiots like me.

i dont have any background processes that could do anything significant, I never notice my virus scanner going off or defrag and theres not much else background that will do much. Better to just make sure you have a decent schedule on virus and defrag and forget about it. The game itself will be the only major resource drain. Chaos your pc is as good or better than mine, i dont even bother with fps configs and run on full graphics, why are you bothering? Do you feel more leet making the graphics look poo, upping your fov, removing weapon models, and getting an fps so high your monitor can't display it?

Updating drivers iff you have fps issues makes sense, defragmenting generally not a bad thing either. Services wise a lot of that 'shutdown these 30 things' stuff is overstated imo, especially with Windows 7.

Cleaning RAM probably means it's defragging it, usually that should only take like 10 seconds. You can get dedicated programs to defrag RAM anyway and really, it doesn't need to be used all the time when you start a game up.

Updating drivers iff you have fps issues makes sense, defragmenting generally not a bad thing either. I either update drivers when I notice some suttering or FPS drops or when I see somewhere that theres a specific fix for a game I'm playing/will be playing (recent ATI 10.10e adding F:NV support for example). I also defrag all 3 drives at least once a month and do full Windows reinstalls every 6-8 months so don't get a lot of shite clogging me up. On the laptop though where there was tons of crap pre-installed it seemed like a good idea, but it really didn't make any difference.

I know it's stupid and I could run on max and be fine. But I like having a billion fps ect.. SP games and nearly every other MP game, I'll run at what looks best (or best compromise at least). But I take TF2 Super serial!
