It's enough to let you fire point blank rockets without really worrying about splashback though. The times I see it being a real problem are:
Vs enemy with a medic and Vs heavy.
A lot of the time vs an enemy witha medic, they get overly cocksure and you can just juggle them to death, but I'm not good enough to do it in three rockets (Can it be done in three rockets?)
And heavy, obv. Pain in the ass to take down as solly with no cover, one less rocket makes it a lot harder.

You could probably get someone into red in 3 rockets if they have a med, couple of shotgun blasts to finish I guess. Then spade the med (amidoinitrite?). As for the heavy, can't think of anything viable other then run away and wait at a corner for him so you can spam from cover. Although my scout instinct does tend to take over a lot of the time and I find myself bumrushing heavies with my shotgun out...

If you get it perfect, you can splash a heavy with all four rockets and he should very nearly die, then shotgun to finish before he kills you. This relies on being at the right range and half the time doesn't actually work (the minigun tends to kill you first)

Also relies on you using the vanilla lawnchair. And the shotgun.
Generally (with vanilla loadout) I just fire three rockets then jump the fucker with the shotty out and go for glory. And die.
If I wanted to kill heavies easily I'd play spy.

One does not "Jump the fucker with the shotgun" if one is going for glory as vanilla soldier.
One applies the noble spade upside the fucker's head.

I was messing around with it last night and I have to say it didn't really make all that much difference to my axing and the flame nerf just makes you a sitting duck against other pyros. I'm probably not pr0r0 enough for it though, someone like you or Twig will no doubt rape everyone with it!

The direct damage is the same, but the afterburn is 4.5HP/s for 10 seconds rather than 6HP/s according to the TF2 wiki. If you want more direct damage, it's the backburner for ye.
