You were an ubered heavy at first, and that made me rage a bit; spawncamping is a bit of a dick move.

In pub play I'd agree with you there but in comp its a perfectly valid tactic and one that you'll probably encounter more then once. Definatly worth working on a counter strat as if it catches you off guard it can srsly fuck you up.

edit - Go watch any mid+ demo of 6v6 Turbine for examples.

Quite frankly, I'd like to know what went wrong on our first upward match, especially at attack. We didn't make any progress at all against that point. Unfortunately I was too far away to do any judgements about it...

I think just generally not enough co ordination with cart pushing. Everyone scattered either through death or going agro

To say that the match utterly frustrated me would be a huge understatement.
Less because we were clearly outclassed (though I agree we did better on GP and we obviously have to familiarize ourselves more with Upward) but because I felt totally useless ... well, let's not mince words: I was totally useless.
AmS and Mama did an excellent job on keeping me down almost constantly, making my existence (and participation) a sad joke. Might be the nature of the beast, playing engy and such

Also P-Rec didn't work for me as expected. But now that I'm checking I suspect I know the reason: 552kb Free Space 
Time to deinstall some games ... hmm, how about deinstalling TF2 ...

Tbh tea, I think the main reason you got bummed alot was cos you were using the wrangler. I realise it has benefits but when you know there is going to be a sniper and a spy gunning for you, you might want to reconsider it. From a sniping point of view, you're a very easy target when you're busy trying to wrangle.

Im not saying don't use the wrangler at all, but don't completely dismiss using the sentry normally, where you can repair, stay out of sight, and watch out for spys.

Can't really comment without seeing a demo T but it sounds like you didn't have enough support. You will be dead all the time as engi without people pressuring their sniper/demo.

Yeah, to be honest, I know the Wrangler allows the sentry to absorb more damage, but it means you don't always notice if I'm laying down some stickies at it's base. If you're not wrangling it the sentry will notice me and you can notice and shoot the stickies.

Tea, you may have noticed I was playing Engie (with my horrendous ping) with similar, if not lower levels of success than you... it's just a bitch of a class in highlander games, I think, especially on those particular maps. Well, especially g-pit at any rate. I was of less use than I would have been in a 6v6 game.

The only time I was actually useful was on Upwards when we attacked, just putting down annoying mini sentries here and there and going shotty and pistol crazy on anyone who got tagged by them (got your demo several times, and your medic once...)

Things I learned last night:
1) Pistol is OP.
2) Minecraft is awesome.
3) Highlanders are just like pub, except you can't change class when you feel useless. And with a bit more comms here and there. And fewer nob gags.

I've also found this out recently to great success. Mini sentry with pistol spam = dead :)))

I need to stop playing classes I'm mediocre at, and demand I play something I'll actually be partially successful at. Sorry T-Regs but it's going to be me demanding to be medic or heavy in the future to practice! Pyro and Demoman are my (almost final) reserves.

Edit: reading that makes me sound very angry at someone; I'm not, just it's not very lighthearted - I am only mediocre at those classes! the demand isn't that I won't ever play them though if necessary; I know others also are not great at them too!

Fun games apart from crashes though.
