So this woman put some guys cat in a wheelie bin, the guy found it 15 hours later, saw on his CCTV camera that some totally normal looking woman had done it because she's a cruel evil bitch. Naturally, as a cat and cat lover, I'm outraged.

I've been on the message board which cannot be mentioned and they're trying to find out any information they can on her. Her numberplate was given in the video, which I went and tried to sell on webuyanycar.com, I failed because you need the address.

So people:

Meh -

1) I don't think this is really national news worthy. There are a LOT of people out there that do much worse things to animals and get away with it like abandoning animals, drowning them, neglecting them, beating them etc.
2) She didn't close or lock the bin (I don't think...only saw it once), I'm sure it just jumped out OK and I'm certain at the very least it would have been noticed before the bin was collected.

I'm not saying that what she did was right or that I condone that sort of behaviour, but it didn't seem that cruel to me. It wasn't exactly like she threw the cat into the bin and closed the door shut or anything like that.

At least the RSPCA is getting some coverage out of it, but that's about the only thing worth mentioning.

The cat didn't jump out deadly, the owner rescued it 14/15 hours later.

Edit: Someone posted her address, but I'm not going to sell her car - chickened out.

well good tommy because that would be stupid and actually a crime and you would be arrested(more like fined probably) and then she would come and put you in a bin.

Well yes, but contempt is not a zero sum game. I admit watching the video made me pretty annoyed.

I think that's exactly what she did, it was in there hours (if you believe the owners). It's just the random cruelty of it that annoys...I can't see why anyone would do that, and I worry about their mental state.

As for 'retaliation' : best left for the RSPCA/police to deal with I think.

Ah Ok. Well...I'm sure I've seen cats jump much higher than the height of a wheelie bin (I've seen cats jump onto wheelie bins).

Still...people leaving pets for weeks without looking after them is much worse but that rarely makes any kind of news coverage.

Yeah...I think that's how I felt as well, annoyed that such a big deal has been made out of something that was pretty minor (only when compared to some of the cruelty and neglect that happens to pets)

I guess something of a similar vein is something like if you go into the attic and leave it open, your cat climbs up and then you forget it's there. It might get left overnight or something. The only thing that makes this different is the intent of the woman. I'm sure the cat was a little hungry, but essentially fine.
