Hello dear everyone.

It is with great joy that I may announce to you that after long and hard labour, that the rebuild of my computer has been an enormous success. You might say, a huge one. With cake.

The Core2Duo processor from the unstable motherboard has found its way onto a shining new (if a somewhat dated model) Intel DP43TF board.
My Graphics Card that went belly up has been replaced by the vendor (after just short of 2 years).
OSX is going strong and will become my main work OS for that computer.
I just finished the Win7 install and had a go at playing TF2 on a 30-player server.

Framerates are up, Annoyance is down. I is a Happy r007.

Inside view. I recycled the old CPU, cooler and RAM. The RAM feels a bit lonely in its new dual-channel banks.
Also I've got no SATA DVD yet, I'll upgrade to a Bluray writer at some point.

A closer look at the drive cages. Still ample room for expansion here. Makes me a happy geek.

Also you can see the radial fan which is drawing cool air from the side of the case ("below" the board) and blows a gentle breeze over the mainboard.

I'm quite upset by how much neater everyones case is compared to mine .

I was lucky the front USB and Firewire connectors came pre-tied, and I had to dig up that airflow-friendly PATA cable somewhere veeery deep. It's just so neat becaus there's not much in it and it's a big case to begin with.

I guess, my case isn't that small, but it is jammed full of crap so I've got that to keep me warm at night I suppose! I'm just hoping that when mode sees mine @lan his OCD's going to kick in and he'll tidy it for me .

As a sidenote my hatred towards the Windows boot loader is unbridled by now. I think I did at least 20 reboots to get this thing sorted and cooperating with Chameleon (the OSX loader), all because Microsoft is too stupid to properly use GUIDs in boot.ini. Ugh.

Oh wait, I still have an XP laptop that refuses to boot becaue of more of this MS bootloader shenanigans. Oh joy!

Bottom Line FPS is now 13 (up from 9), which is very playable compared to the previous state of affairs.

Added advantage is this board eats pretty much everything Socket775. And the case now has ample room for bigger graphics cards.
Upgrades are now limited by my money and not the stupid case. Dunno if that's a good thing though.
