I'm kind of anti any of the 3-stage maps for highlanders as they can just go on forever; I'd rather a 1 stage pl map which only leaves Thundermountain (IIRC?) out of the newies.

Also disco, I'm going to start ignoring your map suggestions as its becoming more and more obvious you have absolutely no taste whatsoever.

My playstyle is just more suited to plr and ctf and i'm perpetually grumpy at being made to play the same horrible popular maps over and over (I still do because I'm here to play with friends). There not necessarily bad maps I am just worn down on them, need more spicy variety. So I will continue enthusiastically suggesting unpopular maps . For the benefit of wdg members its like hzza has forced you to do it with him vanilla style for 12 months and it was damn good but you just want some doggy or piledriver or something, perhaps these positions are more uncomfortable but vanilla is driving you crazy bored.

The last 3 or 4 times I've played TF2 I've been able to play scout, my main and favourite class, maybe 3 or 4 rounds out of 20ish. Why? Because we play maps that aren't suited to scout play an inordinate ammount so I have to change and play something else, either a different class or a different game. Do the same. Moaning about maps just pisses off everyone else (especially the admins, speaking for myself here), and if you're constantly going on about how shit "x" is or whatever I'm so much less likely to listen to you when/if I do decide to manually change the map.

Seems like everytime I get on the servers as of late someone is moaning about maps and its just pissing me off more and more; if you don't like it leave and come back when we're on a map you want to play, or try doing something different, playing a different class or using a different loadout. We're all here to have fun and having to listen to people bitch and moan about the fucking maps we play totally ruins my fun tbh. This isn't directed at you Disco, just a general rant about something thats been bothering me for a while.

i know, in the interest of mutual understanding though people are grumbling because of map exhaustion, the map rotation is a little cp heavy but mostly its just the game being 3 years old, i'm not sure what you can do about that, theres good cp customs out there but then people complain you have to download stuff (I wouldn't but its an issue for some). Or you could run another rotation on a second server, but then noone goes there. Manual switch though I'm not a fan of usually it just means a map I'm finally having fun on gets switching to gravelpit and then I have to quit, and then I come back later and something else gets switched.

Whilst I agree with this, as it's what I do, you are forgetting how hard it is to 'come back' when you dont have a slot reservation

It's also why I donated £3 to GTFO to give me a slot reservation for a month and immunity from class limits.... so I could play engi whenever I liked during the update

I see what you're saying, but I've been playing the same maps for 2 years and I'm not bored of them...Theres 2, maybe 3 maps that I don't play on where I'll either leave if it was voted for by a large majority, or change/initate a vote if it was a random freak result of a previous vote that no-one else wants to play (people jokingly voting for 2fort for example). The reason that I started playing heavy and medic a lot more recently is so that I CAN be more useful on maps where I can't play my usual classes. In 2 years theres no possible way anyone could've mastered every class and every loadout option (Cheez excluded) so try doing something different. Like I've said before, you can't do anything about the maps we play on but you can do something about HOW you play on them.

As for the customs thing we did have custom maps on server 2 for a year ish? In all that time it was never filled unless we specifically planned an event on it, and no-one joined unless someone made a concerted effort to populate it. We've always been reluctant to put customs on server 1 as even with a fast download server people will still leave when it changes to a custom and they see the download screen so that isn't an option either.

@egg, you've got all the admins on Steam friends, plus a load of clan memebrs, if you speak to any of them we're more then happy to kick a non-reg to let a reg in. Same goes for anyone else.

True but I prefer not to, I feel for the person being kicked just for me , plus fresh meat is always good for future proofing / growing the community, kicking them for regs pushes them out.  The auto kick for members is agreeable.

what about putting customs on but making them only available through a vote and clearly marking in the vote download is required, that way they can be there without killing the server by accident.

I'm voting for none of the new maps (apart from Coldfront), they may be new and shiny but they destroy my fps and my will to live.

Same... Except Badwater, Goldrush and Gorge(huge fps drop)... But Gravel/Fastlane/Badlands/Gran would be a freaking joy ,)
