Please don't say you think IT crowd is better than Python?
It's better than a lot of modern comedy, but it falls into the "shitcom" trap (a la "When the Whistle Blows" from Extras)... at the end of the day it's not about the life of some IT guys, but about wigs and silly glasses and crude humour with a laugh track. For what it is, it works, though.
There's always a bit of Rose Tinted Glasses with Python though. There are a select few great sketches that you remember, and the films are awesome - but if you go ahead and watch through Flying Circus probably 90% is actually pretty lame.
Sketch shows like 'The Fast Show' were much more consistently funny. As a Sitcom IT crowd is great, up there with Father Ted.
