I'm wanting to play a proper long (or hey, it could be short...) Pitboss Civ4 game; as suggested in the main thread.

Basically; it works like a real-time game if everyone is logged in (we'll do this when we start to simply get the starting game going faster), but switched to email based turn play if one or more players is not. The server is persistently there in any case.

I can set it up on my home server as needed, and set the email stuff up too even.

I don't expect we'll start immediately, especially since we can gather together a fair few players if people see the thread. But sign up here if you're interested. If we have too few we'll play with a few AI's - or can always have a few to kick around anyway if people want.

We'll play Beyond the Sword, with a map size as appropriate (as small as possible), probably Continents with islands, with otherwise standard settings since it's a first real game using pitboss. I'll set an admin password in case people need to drop. We can have a pre-genned map checked out to see if it is a horrible map if we really want too, but it'd be somewhat nice to go in blind.

I've got Civ 4 but not Beyond the Sword, but then again I've never played Civ 4 so I'd just be an easy stomp anyway.

Chug; you'll want BTS, it's dead cheap to get the game plus two expansions anyway. Smiley But play some singleplayer first, much more fun if you have a gist of what to do.

Right, right right. Finally back from holidays, installed Civ4 and sorted PitBoss settings with port forwarding and (hopefully) email sending - will need to test with a live game though!

Basics I'll use is Nobel difficulty, ancient start, simultaneous turns (for the rare times we'll all be logged in, if ever!), standard turn lengths, and everything as default regarding spying, win settings and so forth - only thing that will be on is lock assets, but no permanent alliances I think for this game so no ganging up Smiley Will be Beyond the Sword 3.19.

I need this information from interested parties (and if we vote to have AI's, we can have people drop in too) and I'll create the game and PM around to give out the IP and password you'll need to connect:

Civilization and Leader (you can pick random too)
Map preference (if any, I'll default to continents)
Do we add AI's? (I'll add a few to mix it up if so)

Sorry for the delay Cheesy Once it's running though it'll be nice and casual to play continuously.

If we add AIs I'd like Espionage to be disabled.  The AI seems to spend it's entire GDP on spys to piss me off.
