For quite some time I have been interested in making my relationship with MS Office legitimate However, my problem is that the main application I'm interested in is Access, and that is only part of the larger, more expensive editions. Now with O2010 coming up I'm wondering if there might be any special offers anybody here would know of for an Office version including Access for a reasonable price? (German language preferred but not mandatory)

If you're a student...certainly in the UK anyway there's "The Ultimate Steal" where you can buy microsoft office 2007 (which if you purchase now includes a free upgrade to 2010) for £38.95 if you have a valid .ac (university) email address. There might be something similar over there? Failing that - if you know someone who *is* a student and hasn't taken advantage of it yet - borrow their email address. I've been using the beta of office 2010 and seems better than 2007 although for some reason (not sure if it's the beta or in 2007 as well) sometimes a dodgy equation in the equation editor can prevent you from able to save anything. Maybe doing my dissertation in beta software wasn't such a good idea

I know our company has something in place where you can get heavily discounted MS software if you buy through the company...might be worth asking your employers if they do something similar?

Tea, does your work offer a "continuity plan"? Where the company buys the software for home use, so that employees can use it to work from home in the event of a disaster? Otherwise, the cheapest "non work sponsored" or "non student" version would be the upgrade: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/125269

@Deadly: Thanks for that hint, might have to check if MS offers something like that here (would still need middleman) @Hzza: Unlikely. @Nine: For any other application of Office I would agree, but I have spent hundreds of hours building and programming my databases. For one I will not discard that and move to another db-software, but also I doubt Base has the possibilities Access offers with VBA (though I could be wrong here) and also suspect VBA has the bigger user base for help and resources. @Junta: Thx, but as indicated so far I have nothing to upgrade from Also: No continuity plan. "Working from home" is not quite on the menu in our company.
