Its awesome, allows you to watch many free view channels (almost live) across the interweb

Also works on mobile devices such as iPhone, and there is a media centre plugin being worked on also.

All this means I can now watch 'cash in the attic' whilst at work lol

You do need a license, but the question is always "how can they tell" - the detector vans can't pick up TV over IP.  The BBC also can't get you if you don't register your address with the people providing the stream.

However, if they knock on your door and see a TV, I'm not sure how you stand with that tbh.

If they knock on the door and see a PC (no TV), you're OK I suspect.

Well, the best policy is not to let them in, because the way they 'catch' you would be for you to admit liability. I'm kind of surprised they haven't gone down the 'enter your license number to proceed' with iplayer, really, because as you say it's hard to prove anything right now.

Site looks good - I wonder if it works for sporting events, or whether that disappears for 'rights issues'?

Its not broadcast live, its timeshifted (by only a few to 15 minutes), therefore a license is not required. (but its grey none the less )

Its the same as iPlayer or other players on the web.

The TV detector vans are a myth how can you detect if something is receiving a signal that is all around us. The licence people just have a database of address's that's why you have to give an address when you buy a new tv. The shop send them to TV licencing place.

Or in the case of the Woolworths store I worked in as a teenager, kept them in a draw and threw them away every 2 years.
