If Terror Nova is the game I'm thinking of, then did you have jump packs? And did you still control left and right with the keyboard but the aiming cursor was controled by the mouse. So that you didn't have to have the target directly in front of you, just under your crosshairs. If this is the game, then yes, I thought it was very cool.
But later I found Quake, and then 3D FX cards took off and graphics got a whole load better.
Looking Glass for me means something else. Thief - Dark Project. Great fun loitering in dark shadows, pickpocketing guards, steeling all the jewls and generaly coshing people in the back of the head. Or whenthat stopped working, shooting a broad head arrow into someone's face at point blank range. Never was there a game where I found myself paraniodly looking at a small "Light crystal" at the bottom of my screen, and straining my hearing trying to figure out where the hell the guards were.
Damm, gonna have to dig that game out and try and complet it now
