Well, the second you give people part of the code it'll be easier to create cheats, hacks and dedicated servers you don't have to pay for.

Or, you know...convert one 28 player server into several 4 player servers.
This, although they'll no doubt come up with some crazy reason why they can't do that. Also, i'm up for some 'gamez' tonight. Because when you buy a dedicated game server - you pay for the number of slots on it. Most of the overhead in terms of game servers comes from the memory/cpu usage to load up the core game files. So a single 28 slot server does not equal the same resource usage as 7 4-slot servers. Plus - nobody would want to pay for a 28 slot server to only be able to use 4 slots. And selling servers at only £5 a month is probably not worth the effort. |
