Also...those of you complaining about emptying a clip into someone and them not dying...you solved your own problem 'emptying a clip into someone'. Burst fire is a lot more effective - you'll only ever see me empty a clip on someone when they are in really close range - and even that's rare as generally I'll go in for the knife kill.

If that's the way the game works then i'll know How to play them situations in future.
It is however a bit counter-intuative, You'd imagine the more bullets you hit someone with, the more damage done.

2 good tips:

1) Changing the only-russian speaking Russian soldiers to a bit english-with-russian-accent speaking Russian soldiers

Helps me alot hearing announcements and stuff instead of "GRANAAADA PAR SULAAAAH BLABLABLA"

Those 2 lines

OriginalVOForEnemyTeam=1 <--- Change the 1 to 0
VOLanguage=0 <--- Change the 0 to 1

Theres already an option in the game but it doesnt work unless you do this.


2) Pimping your sound

Change the speakersettings to "War Tapes". The game will sound alot more epic (atleast imo) but it will also kill your eardrums over time

I love the russian voiceovers in this game, even though some of them are hilariously gibberish. Much like how I sound when I speak english.

I don't get it. It's accent free russian, spoken apparently by real russians, but some of it doesn't really make sense in russian, like it was translated by babelfish, then read aloud by russian voice actors or something.

Is it maybe bits of Russian cut & paste together? It does annoy me, it might sound atmospheric, but a) I don't speak Russian and b) it's not even Russian, so what's the point.

No it's russian alright and it doesn't appear to be cut together. It sounds like actual russian speach and you can understand everything. It's just... I dunno, it's not the way you would say it if you were russian.

I think the phrase that irritates me the most would be "Pomogite mne, ya popal pod seryosnoye dermo", which sounds like a direct word for word translation of "Help me, I'm in some serious shit here!", but there is no such figure of speech "getting into some shit" in russian. At least not in that form. But otherwise, if you know russian - very helpful and authentic for the most part. I've heard far far worse. Usually in TV Shows, where people compliment each other on accent free russian and I'm struggling to understand what the fuck they just said.

That's extremely interesting... strange how you'd go to the length of getting authentic accent but gibberish content!

Maybe what Claws said is right - just cut and paste of specific speech into what you hear in game? Surely easier just to hire a Russian voice actor and get him to read out some standard lines?

No, I have to give it to them, the voice acting itself is actually very good. They really put anger/panic/sexual arousement in their lines, it's just bewildering to me, that the apparently native russian voice actors didn't say "What the fuck am I supposed to read here?" when he saw that particular line on the paper.

Me at voice acting? Don't think it's a good idea! Here are some lines I came up with:

- That's Junta! Cover me and your ass!!
- Haha CruelCow! Your knife is out of ammo!
- Cover me! Deploying motion sensor in Juntas bedroom! And cameras!
(as a follow up) - I need an engineer! My motion sensor must be broken, it isn't picking anything up!!!
