It's yet another co-op game! Except about as different to Borderlands as possible! AI War is basically a massive scale space 4X (think Civ 4) type game, involving massive fleets of ships fighting a supposedly extremely clever AI (depending on difficulty). The twist is that anywhere between one and eight players can team up and join in the fight. Rock Paper Shotgun did an entertaining account of a game in the demo a while back which piqued my interest but I forgot about it until Steam just popped up and told me that AI War is 25% off this week, making it a nice £8.24 (that's just over 10p for every point on it's metascore). Anyone interested in picking this up and having a go as a group  ?

I'm terrible at games like this, but I can't resist good games under 10€. Oh wait a minute, it's probably like 30€ here... let me check.

//Edit: Okay, it's 9.24€, what a wonderful price. Would be okay, if I was sure, I want to play it. Sadly there is no demo and I only liked very few 4x kind of games (actually, only Homeworld comes to mind).

But frankly I was so bored I didn't complete the tutorial. But then I find civ4 boring.

Co-op eh? Sounds good (need to try that in Civ4 actually at some point I think!), might get it once I battle with Windows 7 enough to beat it into not crashing.

Remind me next week and I should be able to check it out then.

theres a final frontier mod a little like this with beyond the sword, only its way boring and doesn't really work. I'll give the demo of this a try sometime but so much to play :/. I have a stack of unplayed games and borderlands and l4d2 demo dropping next week

Looks quite fun, kinda like Sins of a Solar Empire, only with a load more ships.

Sins is really good to play if you have the time and patience, you're looking at at least a couple of hours for the small games and ~10 hours for the big ones.

i play civ4 grinding out many hours is not a problem. Altho i should probably be doing my work.

Playing the tutorial, enjoyable and complex stuff. I want to try a co-op game of it rather then do a solo effort (you know, play together, die together kinda thing) - anyone actually brought it then? or want to try the hour-long trial?

Bump: this is in the Steam sale, so a good time to pick it up if someone fancies a game in the new year. I think I'll finally get it anyway, so those who already have it (Final?) want to get a game going I'll join in

me deadly and final have been playing our first game lately, I think its been hampered somewhat by us not knowing all the different keyboard shortcuts and only picking up some of the tactics mid-game but its pretty good, hopefully in the next game we'll be able to play the strategy better (and i'm probably going to take raptors not space planes!).

Chug and chaosfox want to join next I think? Has anyone else got it?
