Anybody else play them?

I play them quite competitively, I just got back from a tournament today actually and just wondered if anybody else was into them as much as myselffff.

SFIV is still half price for today (even though I don't really like that SF, haha)

I love them, but the tekken series are my favorite. But I hated the new SF, judging from the PS3 version. We played for about 30 minutes and we already saw everything (well there isn't much new anyway) and got really really bored.

I also enjoyed the first Dinasty Warriors (back when it was a real beat 'em up) and Bloody Roar (probably widely unknown?). Don't see why people love Soul Calibur so much, same goes for Dead or Alive. Tekken and Mortal Kombat (for giggles) is where I get my kicks out of - literally.

Used to play a bit of Street fighter 2 back in the day, a bit more recently I played a bit of Soul Calibur but got pissed off when after hours and hours of practice someone can pick up a controler and just by hitting their face on it can still beat you. Haven't played any since.

Exactly my problem with Soul Calibur and most other games. In my experience you can't do shit against a good Tekken player who knows what his char can do. That's why I love Tekken.

To be fair, I've done it on Tekken too, one of my friends was pretty good (not pr0 by any definition, but still a bit of a bad ass) and I used to school him just by mashing buttons. He stopped playing me after a while.

Hmm well I don't know, if someone does it to me, usually they just get a reversal, followed by a combo long enough to put them down. I'd still say Tekken has the widest arsenal of moves with the single purpose of breaking up an attack. Reversals, counter-attacks, counter throws, simple dodging and jumping to the side come to mind. Actually, I'll try that with a friend of mine again, it is possible that it's more of a nostalgic feeling that I have towards Tekken 3. Anyway from the more recent experiences both Soul Calibur IV and Street Fighter IV can be played by simple button mashing with no special moves whatsoever.

soul calibur is awesome, i've played a fair bit over the years and love playing that more than any other fighting game. voldo just pisses people off when you play people and his moves are more interesting to learn. SF always just annoyed me, too fiddly and controller smashingly frustrating.

tekken 3 has a special place for me, every time i play it i love it but its so god damn hard sometimes!

Me and my roomie just bought it this weekend.
So far, I've only tried to play with a keyboard, and a few of the character's moves are a bit tricky to pull off, (but they are all possible to do?).

I love Soul Calibur, it's the only fighting game I like. I'm a fighting game noob so all i ever do is get two endless combos and just mash them again and again. Still, it's fun to hit people with sticks.

Along with many others, Soul Calibur is the only "proper" fighting game I own (even though some purists might baulk at even calling Soul Calibur proper, the alternative in my collection is the SSB series ).

Specifically I have II. Yes, I was very much tempted by Link.

Dont really like SF.. Alpha 2 was sick but I prefere faster and more complicated fighters.. My fav is Smash Bros.. I'm not convinced anyone can beat me with Link
