Ive found that the direct hit is a very effective counter to too many snipers, still prefer the old rl though having tried the direct hit in a PUG i can confirm any half decent player who sees a rocket coming just jumps over them.

I guess we aren't really the target audience of the practice mode, but still, if it helps players. I'll have a look at it if it gives advanced hints as well.
Earbuds: I think they look stupid but I still dislike the idea of being unable to have them at all :/ (gotta catch 'em all and that stuff)
