This game just went F2P, with the same model as LoL. Just like LoL you pay for new skins and new heroes with access to a small pool of random heroes. People who bought before the switch however get everything for free except for some 'early access' bullshit which allows you to get new heroes early or something for $$$.
Right now is a good chance to play such a good game, which really (imo) embarasses LoL in terms of gameplay. Though I don't want to start a flame war, if you're looking to get DotA 2 I strongly, STRONGLY, recommend playing HoN over LoL. It's not that LoL is easy it's just that HoN is much closer to the DotA style of play. Plus it's not so goddamn slow heh.
Not sure if angry, saw it coming I guess but it feels odd that I never had to drop dat cash in the first place. I've played over 1000 games during beta up until now which is easily 500/600+hours so it's not like I'm not satisfied, but damnnnn.
Every game I play a lot goes F2P, the fuckkkk. (1000+hours on tf2 X_X)

Cant blame them. LoL is a moneymachine and the numbers speak for themselves. I guess even free accounts get silver coins and can boy heroes with them? In LoL you can atleast earn yourself more champions by simply playing games which give you socalled "influence points" (usually +100-250 per match, a champion costs between 450-6300) Oh yeah and to show that it works, this is how many champions I still dont own and I have played over 800 games since beta on this account :/ |

Added you both, if you're totally new to DotA/HoN then you might struggle at the start. Well, you definetly will struggle unfortunately. As Burny pointed out to me when he started, the game has a really terrible design in terms of introduction to the game. It pretty much expects you to have played DotA. That being said it's one of my favourite games and always will be (until DotA2) and if you're patient enough to stick with it it is really so much fun. Of course not everyone has the time or drive for such a harsh game but still, I really recommend it.
