imo downloading maps is fine, i have no problem with it
what i hate are those bloody CS servers where you have to download a million admin sounds that you will never hear and will be annoying german gibberish if you do

A crazy little idea, inspired by Hex's and Teatime's conversation in the shout box, popped in my head. What if we make next Friday FragFest a custom map fest on Server 2? By we, I of course mean the head honcho's of WDG.

Hmm, I like the idea of playing more custom maps, but I'm not sure FragFest would be the ideal time for that. I would wish we could make a custom map event once or twice a month (as well playing custom maps we like and run trials on new/unknown custom maps). As for the FragFest: Yesterday I'm sure we could have easily filled both servers. It was a very difficult to get into #1 (let's disregard the fact that I failed to stay in not once, but twice and wasn't able to get in again even with idling on retry for half an hour) and I assume a lot of people didn't have the patience to wait until a slot gotten available. I would have started a game on #2, but it's simply no fun to get the ball rolling on Arena (not to mention that I don't like playing Arena). So my suggestion would be to set #2 to a regular map cycle next friday, encourage people to spread on both and see if we are able to fill up both servers (yes, we can  )). |

Im sure we could fill both servers  But people have to do it.. I think unless there are about 6/8 people on there, nobody else will join which is a shame.. Im sure we could get both filled up on any day of the week tbh |

I know that I used to love post frag fest custom sessions, the only thing stopping me at the moment is arena mode tbh. But yeah, always up for getting some customs/server 2 love, it's our (semi) forgotten child  . |

Im sure we could turn arena mode off for a night
its a bit of a pain to get out of the arena cycle once your in it though, but Im sure its a config issue that we could solve

I'm a sucker for custom maps. I just love them. That's usually why you don't see me around on weekends, because those are map testing days for the mapping community I visit.
So if this goes ahead, I know a few good maps that are fun and balanced. Of course, my map still needs to be tested. *wink wink*.
