Interesting. Just had a chat with our main server. He rang me up and said "Gasman, what's the crack with stats? I wanna be no. 1"

"You daft twat" says I. " You are #1".

At which point he crashed and lost all recollection of the exchange.

Okay, so if you read the latest blog entry from the TF2 team you'll see that they made a new system [JOY!] which should make servers with fake player count "impossible" WELL! this also means that our server is going to lose 15 points every time someone is dropped because of a reserved slot [I know we're not dropping the reserved slot because we want to be able to connect to a server we help pay for]

Well some "smart" person posted this and I thought it might be worth checking out, because if we could do this [show only 26 of our 27 slots] we might be able to prevent people from being "stuck" in the "Kicked by console: Reserved slot"

I do however like the new system, it is very nice and I hope it can keep those pesky "22/24" servers off my serverbrowser!

Guessing this is about members not being able to connect with there being 26 people on the server (i.e. reserved slots) and I don't know if anyone else has noticed this - but if the server is full and you can't get in (as a member) open up the console and connect to our ip directly and you should find it works.

For me, I can't get on the full server unless I do it that way. (A desktop link with +connect should work too)

(Sorry if this isn't the topic of the post, but it's a slightly less "classic WDG de-rail" at least)

That's spot on deadly - reserved slots don't come into play until a connection attempt is made. Believe it or not, when you browse the server and it has 26 people on it, the steam server browser simply says "full" without trying to connect. Issuing a "connect 193.93.45.30:27016" command in the console does work.

In addition, I use a TF2 desktop shortcut as follows:

"D:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 440 +connect 193.93.45.30:27016 -noborder -novid

where you might have to edit the path to be correct (I'm using a D drive not a C drive for example). The noborder also runs in window mode without the valve videos showing

I usually just hit the auto connect button and spam refresh! Usually takes about 2 mins for someone to leave, but I'll definatly try the console connect next time, cheers for that!

At the moment it's not possible to view the scores as they are still working out how to do it automatically (this first time it was done manually, using past data collated to remove the worst servers). However I believe server administrators will be able to view the data once they've worked it out. But they also say that it's more about warning that your server is going to be de-listed - so maybe you'll only be able to see your score if it's low/getting lower.

They also say that ping timeouts, map changes, reserved slots (if done correctly) will not affect the server score - and players connecting only cause the server to lose 15 points once per day.
