Okay, so if you read the latest blog entry from the TF2 team you'll see that they made a new system [JOY!] which should make servers with fake player count "impossible" WELL! this also means that our server is going to lose 15 points every time someone is dropped because of a reserved slot [I know we're not dropping the reserved slot because we want to be able to connect to a server we help pay for] Well some "smart" person posted this and I thought it might be worth checking out, because if we could do this [show only 26 of our 27 slots] we might be able to prevent people from being "stuck" in the "Kicked by console: Reserved slot" I do however like the new system, it is very nice and I hope it can keep those pesky "22/24" servers off my serverbrowser! Oh do express your joy/hatred of the new system here

Nice find, Mark. I would also appreciate not having to connect a zillion time only to be kicked out by "reserved slot".
On the topic at hand: I'm just a stupid old man, but why the excitement about this new system? Sure, our servers will probably score quite well, but when reading the blog I wondered what makes a "bad" server? In which ways are server lying to Valve? And what are the consequences of being delisted? (are their still polled and reinstated when they show a good score?)
And of course creating a score is a two edged sword. If they make these scores public (which would be a logical step at one point) good servers will be flooded and that could decrease the quality of gameplay on that server.

I think the scores will be high on many good servers and that the servers wont be listed anywhere.
A bad server is a server which has a fake playercount [sending fake data like "22/24" when in reality there are no people]

It helps identify badly modded / looked after servers also. Basically if you have a lot of traffic, but people always leave within 1 or two minutes cuz its badly run, this will also show up  Apart from the reserved slot boot WDG have not much to worry about as most people who play on your server start at 8 or whenever it gets busy and its usually the same players still on at the end of the night.

Other configurations seemed to result in odd teams or clan members not being able to join Thought thats how it worked. the 27th slot allows protected steamids to join, beetlesmod sees the 27th fill up and then boots a non-protected steamid to free 27th slot, hence ready for the next protected id to join  Not sure if it allows people to 'wait to join' still or if it still attempts to join and kicks you for attempting to join the protected slot
