Just had to restore Mikey's gaming laptop (Rock Xtreme) from its restore partition. Unfortunately, the so-called factory settings restore didn't include all drivers (sloppy work).
I'm stuck with a missing USB 2.00 driver. What's the easiest way to sort? No idea on M/B chipset.

Need to get some tools that will identify the chipset for you. I know that CPUz does basic chipset identification, other free examples may be SiSoft Sandra etc Once you have the chipset, then it will be possible to work out the drivers needed.

Looks like you can download chipset drivers from rockdirect.com - just need laptop model number.

Yeah, was hoping there'd be a quick shortcut.
I'll dig around Rock's site first.

Well, something ain't right. Never been asked for a USB driver before. Thought it was a generic standard. Thought that was the point.
That's probably why Rock don't list drivers for it.

That's why I said try the chipset driver USB is standard, the chipsets themselves aren't necessarily. As Chaos says it usually autodetects these days though - have you tried deleting the usb devices from device manager and doing a rescan?

Which, the chipset driver or deleting the device (or both)? Is USB still enabled in the BIOS?

Random thought - did the drivers come with SP1 and it's not patched?
