Will Valve decide they've  nerfed too far

Okay their main focus is the pubber (we know this) but they seem to have made the demo less fun to play generally with the main/only source of burst damage being the grenade launcher which is pretty tricky to learn to use. Can't see that going down well on the average Valve server. Why would someone new want to play the class now?

On the plus side people are reporting much higher framerates.

Sticky still kills - just not scouts or pyros or soldiers. Pyro small nerf but massive boost with less damaging airburst stickies. Scout - did it need this new weapon?

Parachute is just crazy fun with demo. You can do some really fun crazy stuff with it. Shame self-damage wasnt downed on demo along with damage to others.

An update to Team Fortress 2 has been released. The update will be applied automatically when you restart Team Fortress 2. The major changes include:

-Reverted the recent stickybomb damage ramp up change. We will continue to evaluate the use of stickybomb air detonations and potential changes to that mechanic.

-Fixed being able to taunt with enemies between spawn room doors

-Fixed a problem with The Senguko Scorcher's materials

-Updated the Towering Pillar of Summer Shades so they are marketable

-Updated the attribute description for the Back Scatter to better explain what it does

-Updated the localization files

So, yeah. Sticky bombs back to normal until further notice.

Well that was all very thought out. Well done Valve!

And I never got to try the new-mode demo  Sad

I think we'll get another nerf at some point (they seem to be looking at air detonating mainly) but some of the suggestions being thrown around are far more reasonable than what they did.

This nerf was too much. It effectively dropped a nuke on the competitive game mid-season before 2 major TF2 LANs (okay, so people were making adjustments but a lot of them didn't feel as if they were enhancing the game particularly). Highlander seemed worse effected and we know Valve are more pro-Highlander in as much as they are pro any comp.

And it also screwed up pubs. I was reading that the demoman seemed to more-or-less disappear overnight and everyone was playing demoknight (more fun, more effective). Plus they were full of sentry guns that people couldn't take down.

People were saying that the demoman should learn to aim pipes. Well great if you're a comp player, or have just invested a bit of time and skill in the class (or are prepared to) but for your average joe who just wants to run around and kill the mans, why bother with such a stupid and unpredictable weapon that ends up with you dieing all the time. Let's play solly or scout with weapons that at least you can aim properly!

I'll say this now, Bear - Valve do not give two shits about TF2 (EDIT: Competitive TF2, anyway) anymore.

It's merely their guinea pig to test features for upcoming games.

Stickies may soon be re-nerfed FYI - this time the blast radius will ramp-up based over time rather than damage (i.e. if you want to air burst stickies M1M2M1M2 style you'd have to be a hella lot more accurate).
