Mechwarrior Online it is. Perhaps we've finally found a game Yonder can run on his pc.

I can't link the site now as I'm on my phone but it's easy to find.

1) Register for an account
2) Confirm email address
3) Login and click download (60mb installer)
4) Run Installer
5) Click launch
6) Click on the 'Patch' button

It will download about a 2.5Gb patch (doh)

I guess then it'll be ready to play. I think you also get a free day of their 'premium' account as well, if you want to use that tomorrow.

If you're taking part - please try and make sure to do this in plenty of time so that we can start at 8pm.

I said voting closes this evening in the post. There was no way to adjust the time on the poll itself, it's actually rather clunky and not very flexible unfortunately. The minimum time you can set is one day and of course that starts depending on when I can get onto the forum to set the poll.

I reckoned finishing mid-Sunday morning might not give people enough time to download the game especially if they happened to be away from their pc on Sunday daytime.

Mechwarrior Online..nice game

Very similar set up to World of Tanks. Short intense battles give you loads of points which you use to buy and equip your mecha (you start off with free trail mechs). Seems to be a good range of stuff...weapons, armour, jump jets plus a separate pilot lab which gives access to mech and pilot skill trees.

Certainly worth playing again I reckon

It's the next morning, and I have finally received the verification email from MWO to my uni email inbox. I still havent got one to my hotmail account, which is the one I usually use to register my gaming accounts. But anyway, now I can download the game for future use. Guess that's better than nothing.

The game was actually surprisingly good - much prefer it to WoT which I played a bit of a few years ago. There's much more action, faster pacing etc. Definitely should have done the tutorial first though - it took Yonder a lot of explaining how the different weapons etc. work and how to actually fire them!! After figuring out you had to make a 'group' it was very easy to join games together. Got a few kills and assists in some games. Other games died almost immediately after seeing an enemy!

It was a shame that the turnout was so low - only 3 people turned up to play the game despite 11 people voting. Would like to see some feedback as to why that is? Are people voting even though they know they're not going to be available or don't even want to take part? It's not a gripe but the whole idea of this is to bring the community together to play something a bit different with an organised event. Is it that you'd only turn up if the game you voted for won? I doubt people are likely to forget about it given the number of posts / announcements and the community event! Feel free to post here or drop me a message on Steam / Forum PM if you'd rather.

Latta obviously excluded because it sounds like technical issues scuppered up his plans to join us! Doh! If you do want to give it a go, drop me a message on Steam and I'll see if I can jump on with you for a bit so you can try it out.

Small point of correction: Hulinut turned up just after you'd gone Deadly, so we had a few more games to give him enough points to get the mecha he was after. Twas good.

Actually, I tried it this morning by myself already, but my GPU didnt want to coop very well. Even when the visual settings were turned to minimal, I mainly had around 8fps, and the controls were annoyingly delayed - or are mechs just built that way? Whatever the case, I think I need to configure my PC a bit in order to actually enjoy the game. It seemed nice though, and I got an assist and didn't die and won a game - a very rare occasion.
