Ah trusty theatre tech Well in the summer I go around and do festival sets (boom town and glade) so I am on site for 6 days at a time and I do all the lighting http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pf72gYyn-mk (note: I was not on the desk for this lighting that's why its poor)

we have just got a CL5 desk (nerd talk) and all the sexy projectors so yeah that's pretty jizz worthy what do you do as a theatre? Live busking on the lights?

Being a electrician is pretty easy if I can do it ANYWAY can do it! It's easy moneys too! But I only charge buy the pint like the other week I had to put some lights up for this lady and she gave me 5 bottles of beer and a cooked meal I was chuffed!

Nah, everything pre-programmed into cue stacks. Vast majority of theatres in the UK at the moment using ETC Eos or Ion consoles, occasionally a Hog of some description and Zero88 in smaller places.

I'm more of a swing tech, I focus on lighting but do bits and pieces of Stage Management, Sound, Flying etc as the work is offered.

Done very little live music work myself, I am jealous of the excuse to use lots of fancy intelligent fixtures.

Ah trusty Zero88 we only got a couple of those lighting desk's we have the tiger's and the pearls oh oh and shitty Jesters and zips they are fun tho I must admit.

I am head of Lighting, power and rigging so that is my life ALL THE MACS! I do recommend getting into live busking and Intel lights as they are fun and interesting. We are starting to stock more LED fixtures so no more stupid hot lamps burning me all the time :/ where about's do you work?

Not really a fan of Zero88 really, never used one that had enough functionality to make me happy, the Jester is essentially "my first lighting desk". The Avolites ones are decent though. As for busking, s'problem with theatre, changing stuff live unless something has gone horribly wrong will not make the designer happy.

I've been working freelance for a while, just back from a month at the Edinburgh fringe. Studying again in London from September, but will hopefully be able to look for some dep work in the West End on my free evenings.

Mental note: make "RIG ALL THE MACS" meme.

Yeah Jester's are pretty lazy on programming I hope your freelancing goes to plan! I heard it's a bit sleepy at the moment but it shall be rammed within the next two months
