I was an avid fan of AOE 1 & 2, but never got as far as 3. It seemed to look good, but had lost some of the gameplay (read some reviews to that effect).
Anyone own it?

I've played and quite enjoyed it. I haven't got around to installing it on my new PC, although I am intending to do so at some point.

Bought it but it would never load on my PC. Everything else is fine just that one game.
had a quick blast round a mates house and it seemed to be a good game (thus me attempting to buy it) but since it won't load I kind lost the urge.

i love my RTSs especially that of AoE, but having said that i was a little dissapointed with it to be fair. Its gone down the road of Civ 2/3/4 rather than to its roots of different ages and upgrades

Nowt wrong with RTS...tend to drift between CIV4/COH/and dawn of war. Dungeon Keeper 2 gets a look in occasionally

I'd noticed Papa playing Rome a lot recently- I always preferred them to the AoE games- I think building an army of Urban Cohorts/Praetorian Cavalry with perfect weapons/armour and all gold experience then rampaging around Egypt was the highlight of that game for me, and it's never quite seemed as fun since, especially compared to the last stand that occured as a result of taking 13 territories without retraining anything and then being cornered by 3 full strength egyptian armies- Only 16 men and two horses walked away from that battle out of the 4000 odd that walked in, and they were all mine. Good times.
Edit: Check it out, that entire paragraph was one sentence. I need more punctuation.

I have been playing it alot, it's the only game I enjoy at the moment, that I can pause mid action and deal with the wife and kids, then return to. Otherwise I'd be on the server more. It is alot of fun and I've always like ancient history and anhilating it
