Cesarean booked in for the 25th October, shit just got real...

We have a meeting next week with the plastic surgeon to discuss removing the boob lump, but it looks like its going to be happening about 2/3 weeks after the baby comes, making November simultaneously the best and worst month ever.

Sorry it takes me so long to reply to threads, i do read them, just don't always have time to add a thought, i have however been thinking about this one.

Firstly, all the best to you all for the section. A planned c section is nice and calm in my experience, having had a 'Crash' section, and an emergency one too, the planned was plain sailing by comparison.

Something i really recommend is something lots of women use for any kind of birth, and that is arnica tablets, because they really help with bruising. If you find a homeopathic place(we have a good one if you need) and ask for 200c arnica for child birth, stronger than usual of 6c or 30c. I realise you should check Eve is ok to take it, but i really found it a help in healing.

Having had a c section x3 i found that breast feeding gave me a bond that i felt was missing when having my babies, and if you can do nothing else then the very first collostrum is really important. It isn't an easy thing to do really. You and the bub have to learn together, but i personally found it worth it, and have fed all my kids myself. I managed with the first 2 to mix bottle and breast feeding, and gave them a dummy to match the shape of the bottle teet. The last who i am still feeding, was more difficult as he had a tounge tie and didn't find the dummy comfy. My middle one had to have a combination as she was on medication for reflux which she had to have before every feed for the first few months. I know some people think that breast feeding is a faff, but personally, compared to all the sterilising, middle of the night bottle making and gubbins that you need, i would always choose to feed myself. If you do need or want to go the bottle route, which by the way i have no issue with, everyone is entitled to do what the need for them, one thing i have learnt from friends, is that a bottle warmer by the bed is essential.

This is all just how i feel about things, and i have thought long and hard about wether to do a post about it at all, but as i think i am the only breastfeeding mother around here i felt that i should offer an opinion first hand.

We were going to go down the breast feeding route but because of the lump surgery the doctors have to dry the milk so we're only going to get about a week of breast feeding in before she has to be operated on, and after that it isn't recommended because of all the drugs and stuff she's going to be on.

We saw the surgeons and stuff last week and we're booked in to have the lump removed on the 14th November (2 weeks after the baby). 2 weeks after that (28th) we get the biopsy results which will tell us if we have to go in for another operation to remove more boob. If the results come back and we don't need more surgery we start another 2 or 4 chemo sessions (neither of the oncologists can give us a straight answer on this) which will be either 6 or 12 weeks and after that we start 3 and half weeks of radiotherapy.

After all that shits done, we're down to 6 monthly checkups for 2 years, then 2 years of yearly checkups and after 5 years the odds of the cancer coming back is the same as someone that has never had cancer before contracting it. Unfortunately due to the type of cancer it is very aggressive so it could pretty much turn up overnight. The benefit of this type of cancer is that although it comes on aggressive it also responds amazingly to the treatment.

I can't wait for a month to go by without having to go and see a doctor, or Eve have a scan, or get a massive amount of IV drugs and just get back to a relatively normal life with a baby.

I've been following this thread, and I'm quite pissed off with a lot of people. Let me start by emphasizing this sentence:

I can't wait for a month to go by without having to go and see a doctor, or Eve have a scan, or get a massive amount of IV drugs and just get back to a relatively normal life with a baby.

Hz is going through several types of huge serious shit and is having a shitty time, and all you can do is argue about the specifics of a post Hex made (lets not forget Hex has done the whole childbirth thing a couple of times now so has a fair bit of experience in the field) she's only trying to help and if it has worked for her SO BE IT. These posts didn't have to be made, especially in this thread of all places. Completely unnecessary. And to any potential repliers to this comment, think "Is there a point to this" before hitting the post button.

Hz, love you bro, keep me posted.

At the risk of starting another shitstorm, I have an update.

We have the cesarean booked in for tomorrow, we turn up at 11am and go in at 1 in the afternoon. This time tomorrow I will have been a dad for 4 and a bit hours. I will update again when something has happened.
