There's probably a thread about this somewhere already, but meh.

I realised yesterday that I hadn't actually installed Chris' FPS config properly, so it wasn't actually doing anything at all.
I had a brief fiddle, and made it work, now I get a constant unshakable 120FPS, even in massive spam-fests and the new awfully-optimised maps. This makes me a very happy, mediocre TF2 player.

is how to install them if (like me) you can't do it by yourself.

The way to tell if you've done it right is that a message will appear in your console telling you it's working when you launch the game. And you get a friendly little green FPS counter in the top right of the screen.

I use the morefps one, tis good good good, and doesn't make the game look bad. I turned ragdolls back on, because I like them too much.

Was wondering whether other folks use the same, or other FPS configs and how much of a difference you get?
My PC is 2 years old and so was struggling a bit, but I know lots of you have newer, beefier PCs... thoughts on performance?

I use some ultra uber high quality config, don't know from where I got it.
It has the green fps like yours in the corner

I used it on my old PC and it was amazingly useful. Stopped me having bad fps and still looked pretty decent

But now I have my new PC I rarely drop below ~150 on max settings

If it looks anything like the PLDX tool, you must have a wonderful time playing TF2

I really don't understand why a 5850/q6600 can't run this game maxed out...

I use one of Chris's configs as well, can't remember which as I downloaded it ages ago. Works well, the only annoying thing is that the skins on some of the hats are messed up. Most of you probably know what I mean, the really bright orange and brown texture. Anyone know of a fix for it, apart from changing the directx version?

Nope,. its a dx8 bug mate, feck all you can do about it without going to dx9+.

I used to run it maxed out on my E8500/8800GTS512, absolutely no problems. Not any more though...

I have this too... does changing the Dx version in launch options affect the framerate/how the config works a lot?
Otherwise I have no complaints about the way things look, a bit more bland perhaps but it's still definitely TF2.

There is no way you get a decent, stable fps though mate. I use Chris' max fps config and it works great for me, although I really don't care how my game looks as long as its got constant fps.

I can actually use the bots now, before they killed my framerate too much. Not much gained in that sense though.
