Trying to resist rant.... Argh! What twisted alignment of planets & stars resulted in someone thinking "Oh my! A genetic mutation that makes this cat look like a freek. Lets see if we can make more". Seriously now? Why? Ok, humans have screwed around with animals over the years. Dogs that are good at getting things. Good at chasing things really fast. Guarding things. Pulling stuff. Ok, makes sence. Better breeds of cattle. Yep, kinda creepy, but I can follow the reasoning. But freeky cats and dogs & other domestic pets. Do some people just have way too much free time on their hands? Or are they trying to turn a fuck up into a profit? "Damm the market is just flooded with normal cats. Lets make a fucked up bread of pussy. I'll call it the "No fucking ears bread" of cat". Ok, I really need to go and have a lie down. I'd like a cigar. But that road leads to darkness. And probably a bread of stoat with no legs.

Cat looks cute
Was born that way, breeded, had folded ears. It's not so much an abomination to God and man, just a form of evolution. Cats are more suited to today "removal of natural selection" society than we are.

Personally I think the breeding of Scottish Folds is entirely justified by this YouTube video.

I don't know - selective breeding has it's advantages/disadvantages. Sure - the cat has funny looking ears, but it might have inherited some other gene that makes it weaker in some form (weak heart, poor eyesight etc) and as we all know - inbreeding is bad mmkay.
One example I know of is the cavalier king charles breed of dogs - they have been heavily cross-breeded to make them look and appear as they do. The downside: genetically they have bad teeth and bad hearts. You're breeding a pet that will probably die of a heart attack.
On the plus side - crops and meaty animals (as in the ones we eat) are bred to get better and tastier meat from - so they grow in more suitable climates.
