I must admit I've not always been the greatest fan of snipers, sitting in the sun at the back sipping weak lager while the rest of us get covered in filth trying to protect a stupid cart.

But I have to say snipers have saved my life a few times recently with their new pee-on-me-i'm-on-fire trick, and the mini crits are awesome for taking out heavies.

So to all Jarate wielding snipers, this soldier salutes you! Smiley

I too would like to thank our sniping buddies for the constant stream of arrows and hail of piss that hits me (as a heavy or pyro) on a regular basis.

I'm normally on the receiving end of the Jarate - I note that its the first thing that snipers throw when I approach them as a pyro!

It is good stuff when I get the mini crits on the enemies though Smiley

Glad to see some snipers getting more involved, but I do question the use of the huntsman at times.. seems rather hard not to miss (well, that's made me a target now hasn't it! lol).

youll find that the regular snipers, after a brief play with the huntsman will always return to the sniper rifle
The huntsman just isnt accurate enough for my liking.. also, the damage seems really random to me so Ill stick with the rifle thanks Smiley
As for Jarate, Its a good thing IMO as it adds a feeling of "im actually helping my team and they now realise it" to the game which before, I was just a man at the back with a gun.. most people didnt know I was helping as my kills are usually before the enemy reach their line of sight (or spies with my knife)

your very welcome for all the times I have and will put you out Smiley

Would also like to thank the pyros that weild the normal flamethrower as they can now put people out too with the comp.blast Cheesy

A good combination imo is Huntsman + SMG, cause youre often dont kill someone with an arrowhit but they will be very low on health so you can finish them off with the SMG. tried that yesterday and it worked. If youre the only sniper and youve got a good team to communicate with than take Jarate. Itll be very useful.

Im always using the huntsman, I know its lame sometimes and youre often lucky when headshotting someone just coming around the corner, but with a bit of practicing, youll have a good movement, aiming and prediction with it.

Totally offtopic, I know. I hate snipers.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly, tried the Huntsman but it was pretty unpredictable most of the time.

I use the huntsman as sniper only because I'm not trying to be good at it yet, and it makes every kill feel that much better. Also, because I'm a selfish git, I like the Razorback for the sheer humiliation of spies you can lay down when they try and stab you.

The huntsman is deadly accurate!

Note if you hold the arrow in a launch position too long the aim will mess up.  As long as you remember the huntsman is for snap shots i.e. press and hold for a second till fully charged ONLY and let go you will find the accuracy is exactly like the normal gun but without scope.  Also the less power you have the less distance and the more gravity will effect your shot Wink

The Huntsman is good close up in cojuction with Jarate, for longer stages rifle and razorback ftw! Huntsman is excellent for whacking Pyros just before you're in their range let rip and unlucky Pyro, dead as a dead thing! Jarate is excellent for control points that are hammered with enemy - just lob in the piss pot and all your mates get the benefit of mini crits. I find myself changing between layouts a lot depending on which stage we're on, which side I'm on and how things are going. I must admit that as sniper I still rely on my team for support - still only got 125hp BUT I'm happier to take on opponents running backwards letting arrows off rather than trying to bag an unscoped hit with rifle! You're right about the Huntsman Mr Chug, I only go back to rifle for longer stages for the amount of ammo in rifle vs Huntsman. I also like when pyros ignite my arrows that's teamwork! Smiley

Well, I think Valve succeeded in giving the sniper tools to work effectively closer to the frontline.
And some people have pretty much proven already that the Huntsman can be used very accurately even on medium-to-far range.
Yes, your aim becomes unstable after a few seconds (not exactly sure why, except for realism, since I don't think it would overpower the huntsman otherwise), I'd just wish the crosshair would indicate that, not just the arrow quivering. I'm usually far too busy with aiming to notice that the bloody arrow has started shaking Cheesy

And for some odd reason I find I'm doing better with the huntsman than the sniper rifle. I totally suck with the rifle, but with the huntsman I actually hit something every now and then (like Junta).

The huntsman was designed with the older player in mind. Hence the shakey aim and the jar to piss in Wink

Uh funny thing I noticed about the huntsman, when you see it in the view model he is holding it in his left hand, however in the world model he is holding it in his right hand very odd.
