Okay, great, they're on there.

However, they're, like I said in my original post, only 8v8 max.

Someone needs to edit the arena_config file and set maxplayers to something like 48 to allow a full 12v12 game Smiley according to this that is:

Because it was a shame, we got a full server, but 8 people were constantly out!

The default is for three teams - which I went along with. Its also the reason why I think Arena mode sucks! (personal opinion there!).

I'll check the article out Final and will come back to you - I hope the edit works and doesn't do something silly like make everyone sit out! lol

I would assume the third team (=limbo) should serve as some ill-deviced incentive to succeed (vs. the punishment of having to sit the next round out). That goes along the same lines as the humiliation period after the regular game (which I also loathe and refuse to take part).

Along with helping to scramble the teams a bit. Although if one team keeps losing then it doesn't.

Well, it's just silly because it rarely works like they intend. With < 16 players everyone plays, with > 16 players it goes strange, with the limbo side never usually being full!

There isn't ever truly 3 teams, and certainly the swaps can take several rounds (or usually, only a few players swap in and out).

Forcing 2 teams is the best option, no idea why it's such an odd setting. Sad

Its nice playing with your mates and all that, but it doesnt always make for fair gaming.. the best guys usually gang up quite quickly (know it or not) and causes a 1 sided steamroll (not always, but more often than not)

I have seen it work quite well in GG games in CSS.. (2 Acronims, Im starting to sound clever:D )
although the object is entirely different, so is the mindset thats promoted...
Saying that, any game mode that you have to look to CSS for an improvement cannot be a good one.. I vote we give Arena 1 last chance... make the changes we want to make and then give up on the notion entirely

I don't think 8 a side arena is that fun anyway though. Works best with small groups and alltalk. I might be weird, but I don't mind sitting out and watching.
