Google, in their bid to take over the world, piece by piece have developed an internet browser!

Download and give it a try here: http://tools.google.com/chrome/

Obviously in BETA so use with caution, however...I think it's GREAT!

- active form fields have a cool orange outline
- you can drag tabs into new windows
- incognito mode (stores no information about sites visited etc.)
- when you open a new tab you get a preview of recent sites visited and all your bookmarks
- applications...i use gmail, and it allows me to have a desktop shortcut to my gmail, not like a browser, as if gmail were an application installed on my pc!
- search...when you start typing an address into the address field, it google searches automatically to help you complete the search.
- in terms of stability it has a nice feature in that each tab runs in it's own process, so if say flash player crashes - you dont lose everything you had open in all the other tabs

So yeah! Give it a go!

There are still "privacy" issues around Google - it will not disclose what it should on the subject. I'll try and dig out the article.

Aparently there were a few anomalies in the license agreement!

That effectively anything you view/post/update using google chrome automatically becomes their intellectual property.

I think they have amended that now

yeah they did ammend it. Its a great browser.  Just no add blocker or firebug plugin which i cant live without so FF is still my browser of choice.

I miss adblock, and I keep itching for my homepage (ironically a Google customised thingy). And the spellchecker annoys me, so I'll be happy when I find the off button on that. Other than that, it's definitely a Good Thing.

Edit: found how to get my homepage, although having my stumbleupon favourites show up in the startup page was actually quite nice. No luck with the spellchecker yet.

I like it too, but like reason said I need adblock (yeah, I know I could run privoxy/whatever). Once it gets that I might use it permanently.

It's good, and from the tech side, I can tell it is a lot more capable than other sites, and will move the web industry forward in about 1 year when webdevelopers start using its advantages.

However, it's google. They're evil, and I'm not supporting them

Been using it as my main since it came out, I definitely miss adblock, and scrolling doesn't work properly with my laptops touchpad (i put in a temp fix with a tap zone mapped to page up), but love it overall.

Fun fact: it doesn't work with Facebook's new features. Ajax issues, apparently.

I really looked forward to Chrome because it could have been a popular browser with decent javascript and dom performance, something IE, FF and Safari still lack
However, I was disappointed. Most of the performance tests google presented were set up.
I did run the tests provided by google myself and was really impressed at first,
almost 10 times faster than any other browser Once I run google-independent tests,
Chrome performed a bit slower than Opera, while Opera did my E-mails, Feeds, Torrents and IRC at the same time. Not quite 10 times faster :
Also, onLoad is run way too early in Chrome. This is done to achieve better test results in
some javascript performance tests. The downside is that this can break some sites.

Overall, I like the concept of Threading, but the "revolutionary" javascript engine is a disappointment, and Chrome has, using Webkit, the same weak points Safari has.
