heres the thing... my motherboard comes with some annoying auto overclock thing... and i have an idea it tried to do something to my card... not happy!
i restarted the comp, and i had nothing come up on the monitor... and the little lcd poster screen told me there was a cmos error (lie.. my card was dead)
i then found out that my imac (that sits on the same desktop) has a hd2800 series card (dunno which chip/vram exactly but its got 256mb) and installed crossover and then steam...
long story short, it works, i can play tf2 but it looks like im playing a 3d game on a snes Sad
I could just be using one of the cards i have but i installed a waterblock on it, so untill i get it all set up its useless! lol
I just hope ebuyer get a move on with the rma... anyone know how long the take to send a replacement part? i sent it to them today (friday 1st aug)
in the mean time, my band is recording so i cant waste my time on tf2 i guess and ill have to concentrate on that!
ill be back soon.. and i will win the rig wars

Ebuyer....oh dear....from my past exp pain in the ass! Took about a month last time.....

Only people ive found to be worse are XFX. Took them a month to accept RMA then another month to sort it. But i'm getting a free upgrade out of it so cant moan too much Smiley

I feel ya pain and hopefully ya get it sorted soon!If i had a spare GC i'd send it Smiley

Crossover is basically WINE, right? No wonder it looks shitty. But then, why not use Boot Camp/rEFIt? Usually gives adequate performace...

Good luck on getting your RMA settled, and have fun recording your stuff...

I've found e-buyer pretty good with returns, but you'll be looking at a 1 to 2 week turnaround. The time consuming bit is waiting for the engineer to test it. The sales team are switched on a will have the replacement out of the warehouse, the day the engineer agrees it's a warrantable fault.

I have the overclocked version of that xfx card... the 8800 ultra, its a good card but suffers from overheating quite easily... maybe as its an oc version... but overall, its very powerful Smiley

I have the 8800GT alpha dog from XFX. Very nice card. Would happily upgrade to a 4870 though judging by the reviews I've seen in CPC.
